Default Paramount Scrapping Special Features on "Cloverfield" Blu-ray?

Even though it seems many on here don't give a damn about bonus materials, I'm sure other fans of this movie out there will be pissed to hear about this if it is indeed true.

It's better to get it out on time, though, once you miss the DVD release date you're screwed, saleswise. This is the right thing for them to do, they can release a version with the special features later.

It wouldnet be so bad if they offered a price break on the half-a$$ version

It depends on the nature of them, it's potentially a large amount of work to start writing java code to do the same thing as you had already created with hdi for an hd dvd.

dilemna

release it quick without extras or release it later with extras...
which one would I buy...

it would depend on how long it takes to give cloverfield blu-ray edition the extras it deserves but... first thing I watch is the main movie... but I also like to watch extra features after I watched the movie too

This is how studio makes money. We see this stuff with today's DVD. They'll make consumers buy the special edition/director's edition/ultimate edition/etc many years down the road.

No biggie....expect to double dip.

Isn't Cloverfield the last Godzilla movie? I never saw it. Does the monster look like Godzilla or is it actually Godzilla?

Same feeling here. I don't give a damn about the extra's. Just give me the film on blu-ray.

Fine with me. I generally only care about the movie itself and it's sound. It would be great if they do get the Blu-ray on this one out day and date with the dvd.

Although I very rarely care about extras, this is one movie that I would like to find out anything more than the movie tells you. I'll still get it though.

"They need to scrap the extras to get the Blu-Ray out on time".

What? If the extras were already made for HD-DVD, why could they not just be ported over to BD?

I'm thinking this story is B.S. but if so, this is a blatant double-dip.

I'm not going to buy Paramount's dregs just because they weren't smart enough to plan for an inevitable blu-ray release.

The whole HDi interface used on HD DVD's is much different than the java interface used on Blu-rays. It would likely take a good deal of time to rework the extras to put them on Blu-ray. It would likely turn out to be a double dip at some point yes but it is either get the release of the movie out on Blu-ray day and date to capitalize on sales vs getting the movie out with all the features intact on Blu-ray at a later day and lose out on a lot of sales. They need to have it day and date to get decent sales numbers.
