That's the interesting result of an online survey that gathered about 15.000 responses...

The japanese are lucky, they already have working solutions for burning their HD programming onto BD-RE. Here in N.A., we're still waiting for the powers to get this opencable thing running properly so the ce makers can give us the BD recorders.

Alot of ppl say blu-ray is not revolutionary as DvD. But who is going to care when you can buy a blu-ray player for a $100 which will happen sometime in the next 2 years.

The thing to keep in mind though is that surveys aren't always accurate, particularly online surveys.
The people who are most likely to even vote in a Blu-Ray related survey are people who either have or are interested in the format. Most people who have no interest in it will likely not even bother going to the site to vote at all. Don't get me wrong, I'd love it if these figures were accurate and I was proven wrong on this, but I'm just being realistic. |

Er...uh...no disrespect, but that is 100% backward. The Japanese have ALLWAYS honored and valued tradition...architecture, food, art, music, clothing. They are leaders in advancement in technology, but valuing what is "OLD" is so much a part of their culture, that it allmost "IS" their culture.

When it comes to technology, fads come and go sometimes in a week. They always like the new and shiny gadget
Recorders are very popular over there for some reason. There's ads for BD-Rs all over Akihabara. I'll post my pics of them if people are really interested |

I'm not so sure about how well BD recorders go in the US because of all the DVR's they have there. I mean, you know recordable DVD players, they are pretty popular over in Europe and Japan, but not in the USA. I'm pretty certain that there are many people on this forum that own a R-DVD player, but I don't think the general public has the players. In all honesty though, I want an R-BD player whenever I get a HDTV and a HD set top box.

![]() I'm not surprised by the survey of the Japanese. HD-DVD was a blip there and caused a minor degree of uncertainty. Now that BD has the lead, it won't be long till we get inundated with BD recorders. fuad |

I love where I don't have to look for the media that I recorded anymore. When I'm done I just simply deleted it. Since I can record up to 60 hours on my DVR. one time I have the whole season of 24 on that thing. (I made sure that I have the whole season before I start watching it.) I have Recordable DVD too but I mostly use it for tranferring home video from a camcorder. |

![]() ![]() At the bottom it says "Welcome to the Maxell Hi-Vision (J term for HighDef) World" ![]() The second one features a transfer service to BLu-ray+DVD+CD Quote:
I 'm building my own, with an eye on adding BD-R to it when the prices on the discs come down to a few dollars apiece for archiving HD broadcasts of shows. Who knows how many bombs that I lovewill never make it out to Blu... You can fit 3 episodes (4 if you chop the commercials) on a 25GB disc. Last edited by WickyWoo; 04-05-2008 at 04:41 PM. |
