What Blu-ray offers over DVD Player?

And is there any deal for blu-ray player? I want to save my dollars.

Please follow John's recommendation, I am sure you could find a wealth of information if you dig in to this forum.

In a nutshell, blu-ray is HD and DVD is not HD - it is Standard Definition and similar to standard broadcast TV. blu-ray is better than HDTV (for most cases) - No DVD could match blu-ray quality.

If you like significantly improved picture and audio quality, go for a blu-ray system.

I suggest you to go for Memorex MVBD2511 BluRay Disc Video HD DVD Player Black NEW ($114.99) and Memorex MVBD2510 BluRay Blu-Ray Disc Player 1080p HD Progressive scan(119.99).

I am using it since a long time. It is excellent and offers many features over other Blu-Ray disc players. And I haven't faced a single problem yet.
