So is nobody buying this season or did it not end up with a digital copy being included for some reason? It's been out for over a month and I have not seen a single digital copy code go up for sale on this one. So either I just keep missing it or no one's buying it. I started this season on Hulu last fall and it started out pretty good, looking forward to finishing it at somepoint.

Here's an idea. Support the Blu-ray format and obtain it that way. Just a thought.

It's a rare digital code but every Blu-ray set came with a UV code. The show isn't as popular as The Vampire Diaries and fewer codes are in the wild.

It's great it's still being released on Blu-ray, but disappointing that season 3 is being released through Warner Archive. I hate that they don't make slipboxes.

This is a plus! You are going to go from 11.5 mbps to 30 mbps for much improved PQ!

There has to be compression issues shoving 22 episodes on 3 BD-50's. I am sure that fine detail is gone and sharpness is lacking on season 2 compared to season 1.

The compression isn't immaculate, it has a fairly tough time in the darker shots.

Good news, it appears that WB via GDMX has improved their AVC hardware encoder. The television sets that just came out this month boast stronger, more transparent encodings. For a couple of years WB was trying to see how low they could go with their bitrates.

The Originals: The Complete Second Season makes for another top-end TV-on-Blu-ray presentation from Warner Brothers. The studio's 1080p transfer is fantastic. The digital source material does show a tendency to become saturated in noise in lower light scenes, but the image is otherwise healthy and vibrant. Detail is crisp and firm, effortlessly revealing and sharp throughout the season. Faces are particularly great, with every bit of stubble, pore, line, and imperfection clearly visible. Attire is likewise stout, but perhaps most attractive is the New Orleans (Georgia) setting where building façades, and brickwork in particular, are tangibly rough and realistic in presentation. Colors are fantastic. Bright daytime exteriors reveal superbly punchy and healthy shades on clothes, natural vegetation, and storefronts. Even lower-light interiors mange to present very well, if not a little warmly. Black levels hold up very well with natural depth and no predisposition of crush. Flesh tones appear natural, influenced only by surrounding lighting conditions. No banding or other unwanted artifacts are apparent in more than extremely scant quantities.

Isn't that the same guy who didn't notice that the new Star Trek II DC Blu-ray has better quality and new extras?

Unfortunately they still are cramming 7-8 episodes per disc on numerous titles being released this month. So are you saying that Warner has a new encoder that is increasing bitrates? Not the TV division, but Warner was always harassed for low bitrates then about 2012 they started releasing many titles in the 30 mbps range. There TV division was worse using lossy sound till 2011 but delivered competent encodes of their TV offerings.

Pushing into the 300 minute plus range for a single BD-50 is borderline insulting, this is not Mill Creek here! Now they did do this for Batman 66-68 but the show used DD mono at 192 kbps and being 1.33:1 only 75% of the screen needed to be encoded for actual picture information. Hopefully this madness stops and now. Their MSRP is way too high for heavily extremely compressed TV seasons.

Oddly enough WAC the polar opposite twin is releasing the less popular titles is hitting it out of the park time and time again in regards to PQ.

OK, I can't find the "season 3" thread, so I will ask here.

Can anyone confirm, if season 3 came with or without a slip box?

I've been playing marry go round with Amazon on this matter. Both season 1 and season 2 came with slip box's, but both of my replacements of season 3 did not come with a slip box. Did season 3 not get a slip box????????

Season 3 also does not seem to include Digital, anyone know why? What is WB trying to do.
