Post Movie "Facts you never knew"...Post here

Hopefully everyone here has a watched a movie that has left them wanting more after the credits rolled and the extras played out. My favorite movie (this week anyway), is Memento. Great dialogue, Christopher Nolan is a very thought provoking director and Guy Pearce is in a league of his own... better are these facts I found kind of interesting about the movie:

Have any interesting facts about movies..please share them here...

Ah, this thread has so much spoiler potential.

Not until recently watching Gattaca in 1080p did I realize what the title meant. Watching the movie on Blu-ray, I can now clearly see the name plastered all over the screen.

"Gattaca" is composed solely of the letters that represent the four DNA bases: (G)uanine, (A)denine, (T)hymine and (C)ytosine. That's why when you see a DNA scan in the movie, there're tickers full of G's, A's, T's and C's on the screen.

Prince's symbol not his name shows up in the credits of Fargo, as the guy running from the crashed car who gets shot in the back while going though a snow covered field at night. You never see the characters face, and I always thought it odd that Prince would make a cameo in a film like Fargo. I looked it up online and it turns out that it wasn't Prince, and for some still unexplained reason the Coen brothers put Prince's symbol as that character instead of the real guy. Weird.

Everyone probably knows this one, but I like it:

In the lord of the rings trilogy, when Aragorn discovers the Orcs descimated, and thinks that the hobbits have been killed, he Kicks a war helm and screams, when shooting that, he actually broke his toe kicking the helmet, and they kept rolling and he stayed in character.

you know what's cool. Aragorn, also known as Viggo Mortenson, lives 3 doors down from my girlfriend's house. I helped him catch an injured bird that he took to a nearby vet. hospital to save. He's a pretty cool dude.

My only guess is that the Coen brothers are from St. Louis Park, and Prince is from Chanhassen, both suburbs of the Twin Cities.

Some of my favorite movie tidbits comes from The French Connection.

- They used real heroin in the movie (well not "used" but they filmed it).

- There is a scene where Gene Hackman is chasing the bad guy and they get stuck in a traffic jam. Well the filmmakers couldn't get permits to close the street so they had crew members fake car trouble to block traffic and film the scene. They just barely got everything shot and cleared out by the time the police had arrived.

- They went over the hour time frame they had to shoot the car chase. But they continued the chase through the busy streets. Most of the traffic is real in that scene.

How about the fact that Jean Claude Van Damme was originally cast as the Predator in PREDATOR. He apparently was not too fond of wearing the heavy makeup and costume in the middle of the jungle so he left/got fired. According to Jesse Ventura he intentionally got fired by injuring a stunt man on purpose. What a jerk if that is true. Nonetheless, we may have never gotten Bloodsport if he had not have left this movie.

IMDB is your friend.

Love the idea of the thread...... not sure about "Memento" because the link didn't really provide any unknown insight......

I may be one of the few people who was eager to buy Memento when it came out, because I had actually seen/owned "Following" before Memento was made or announced.

I'm sure this one is common also (of course someone said something about a LOTR movie and I've never seen those movies) but in CLERKS, The Quik-Mart convenience store where the movie was shot (that I've been to) allowed them to film in their store at night.... so the entire bit about the "Savages" in that town that shoved gum in the locks so the shutters wouldn't open was all more-or-less last minute planning by Kevin Smith because they filmed all of the In-Store scenes in the middle of the night, so they had to cover up the fact that it was dark outside when Dante is supposed to opening the joint in the early morning..........

After they talk about the "**** mopper" a guy buys Windex, and paper towels.....

so many other good parts of that movie.... god... I need to watch it for the millionth time when I get home!!!!!!

OOOOOHHHH NAVY SEALS!!!!!

More clerks Trivia:

The "Milk maid" was played by Kevin Smith's mother. The woman who "manually M*****bates caged animals for artificial insemination was played by his sister.

Also the actors who played kaitlyn and randall fell in love during filming, and later married.
