This sucks. I was stoked for a blu release. Guess I'll be buying the Steelbook DVD then. Hopefully it'll hit blu this year. Double dipping sucks. I hate the format war. Makes no sense.

I remember the story being that the movie was ready for an HD-DVD release but since that format died the studio has to re-encode/remake the disc. If I'm not mistaken it was the special features that needed the redo.

Seems like a weak excuse to me.

The format war is over. Now that everyone is in the process of picking up the peices, it will take some time for things to be up and running like clock work on the BD format only. Universal and Paramount are the ones (still in legal battles with Toshiba to be settled) that are affected by BD winning. And they currently are beginning to develope movies right now. The official lack of title announcements has left most everyone feeling uneasy.

This movie will make release on bluray this year. Day and date probablly wont happen(supposedly for the special features that were done using HDi wont be ready in java for day and date). Honestly, I dont care if it makes day and date or not, I will just wait and get it on bluray. I no longer buy standard dvds anymore, nothing goes on the rack unless its in the blu case . One way or another this will see release this year.

And really, until Paramount makes their bluray plans known we will dont know if this one will make day and date(isnt the dvd due in June? if so i think it can make release). I would hope that an announcement from Paramount will be happening soon. Bill has stated on thedigitalbits that his sources are telling him that an announcement is coming soon from both paramount and uni. I am holding out hope that we will hear something by end of the month.

I am looking forward to many of the titles that Paramount/Dreamworks has and Bill has said we will be very impressed by what they are working on. We all must stay calm and wait for something official from them.

I have not purchased or rented a movie on SD-DVD since i purchased my PS3. But this is one title I may get on DVD as I do not know if I want to wait for Paramount to get off their ass and release a proper Blu version. But, knowing how the industry works it will come out on the 22nd and about 3 months later we will have a Blu.

I just watched this movie, missed it in theaters. Oh dear... Cloverfield? I'd have called it Annoying Characters Doing Annoying Things, And Getting Their Annoying Friends Killed. Hard to root for a film where you despise all the characters. But that's just my opinion, I hope fans of the movie get a decent disc from Paramount. Peace!

I didn't care for the characters either, so I got what I wanted in the end.

Well, I really don't care too much for the movie. However, it gets me to see another release from Paramount without any corresponding Blu-ray title announcements. So Nin's Island (Paramount) and Leatherheads Universal) turned out to be flops. I say

Paramount and Universal. Constantly excelling at backing the wrong horse. Maybe they're waiting for DVD 2.0 to come out.

I watched CLOVERFIELD on DVD last night and the sound was excellent. Can't wait to hear it on Blu-ray one day.
