Default Amazon needs to fix.....

When is Amazon going to stop recommending HDDVDs to people who ONLY buy blu-rays? I bought a couple of blu-ray movies this morning and wasted a good 15 minutes afterwards deleting HDDVDs off my recommendations list.

I can't be the only one who thinks this way...am I?

Also, before anyone tells me there is a thread for this topic, I did a search.

Its just advertising, I get the same thing, It doesnt bother me anymore as what exactly is HDDVD? Oh yea, a dead format

They place ads in the mailers as well, or used to. Its just Amazon doing what they do best, market their products to everyone regardless of type. Do you get offended by DVD advertisements?

I don't like wasting time. Their program is made to give you "your" personal recommendations based on your purchases. Seems retarted that they can't make a fix to that.....as you said, HDDVD is a dead format and I have never ordered one from them.

It could also be due to the fact I haven't had any coffee yet.

They recommend HD-DVDs or movies completely unrelated to what I've already bought.

"We're recommending 27 Dresses to you because you ordered Predator".

It is funny that they still do this. But they want to get rid of their inventory. If you look at the numbers, Amazon has much higher numbers of HD DVD than the industry overall, so they are selling more HD DVD than the average retailer. Must mean they have a lot to get rid of, and have the lowest prices on them.
They will stop soon enough, since they are all discontinued now and will no longer be available once their supply is gone.

I checked my BBy this last weekend, still have HD DVDs up too despite the reports that many are taking them down. I still see people looking at them too, but not buying them. Sad really, one guy was showing off to his friend what he bought on the 30% sale... I wonder if he realizes the reason it is 30% off is cause it is a dead format...

Amazon's recommendations are based not just on what you have purchased, but what other people who have purchased those products have also purchased. Since many people own both Blu-ray and HD-DVD equipment and have purchased both blu-ray and HD-DVD disks, Amazon may recommend an HD-DVD to a Blu-ray exclusive owner.

After May, there will be few, if any, new HD-DVD releases and this problem will fix itself.

The one I hate is where they have these combo deals (Buy movie x and save on movie y) where X=Blu-Ray movie and Y=HD-DVD.

I've found the recommendations to be somewhat useful, not necessarily format specific, but titles in general. But sometimes it will recommend stuff I've already bought from amazon. meh...it's a minor nuisance.

I'll just throw my .02 cents in with Amazon. Bloody frustrating that you look for something, find it, it says "will ship internationally" you get to check out and whoa and behold.

"Sorry due to your geographic placement we are unable to ship this to you" or something to that affect.

THEN WHY SAY YOU CAN!!!
