Default DVI Cable Using two HDMI connectors??

Hello,

I just got a HC1500 to replace my Infocus 4805 and I have been happy with the decision. I have had a problem with it tho...Just laid carpet and covered my long DVI cable run to ceiling mounted FP. Upgraded to HD on DTV and now have HDMI on both ends and want to use DVI Cable..I bought two HDMI connectors and thought it would work, but says no signal?? When I connect to the DVI out of my HTPC I get a signal with a connector on one side at the projector. Is it not possible to use two conncectors on one DVI cable??
