Now filming around Miami, based on a true story of 2 bodybuilders involved in a kidnapping, extortion and murder case. Here is the link to the news story that the movie is based on. It is a long, fascinating and horrifying read.
Not sure if that's the case, but the Wikipedia movie page mentions that it will be a "black comedy". If you read the article, my guess would be that they probably won't stick too close to the facts. After reading about the events they were involved in, the last word I would use to describe the two would be "knuckleheads". That said, the movie has great potential and I'm glad to see Michael Bay doing a movie without massive CGI. |

I'm all for it. Sounds comparable to "Bad Boys," although in a way, the plot reminds me of "Burn After Reading." It'll be interesting to see how Bay handles the characters and the comedy (which never were brilliant in any of his films).
There's still potential for at least a few 'splosions too! ![]() |

Michael Bay and Black Comedy don't really sound like they go together rather well
![]() But I'll wait and see, all he needs is a good script and a bit of patients (which was the major problem with his last attempt at a serious film, The Island) |

Id agree with The Island - its his best film and horribly under-rated. Just a shame he didnt crank out more films like this. The first X Formers is actually decent too. The rest of this stuff....ehhhh....not for me.

The title of this thread should read:
Michael Bay's Pain & Gain- Starring Mark Wahlberg and Dwayne Johnson. Mark Wahlberg doesn't refer to his stage name: Marky Mark anymore because, he's no longer a rapper as Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch in the music industry. That's in the past! And whenever The Rock is starring in a movie, he use his real name: Dwayne Johnson, not his professional wrestling nickname The Rock. Last edited by slimdude; 04-04-2012 at 03:37 PM. |

Really like the Island, it's such a underrated movie in general and also a great action movie! I love the scene with those flying bike type things. Those are bad ass! Wish I had one!

I was listening to the Rope of Silicon podcast the other day and they brought up a point that directly relates to this, films are constantly being made for a wider and wider audience so it can appeal to every possible demographic yet theater attendance is steadily dropping. Nobody is willing to take risks anymore hence why we get films that aim to be average and a movie industry that is failing itself. Now everyone can call me a film snob and throw around names. ![]() |
