Default 360 and bluray

yo tsup errbody, i have an xbox 360, which in the selection you can choose up to 1080p, so like if i rented a bluray disc would it be primo? also the 360 has an add-on dvd player thats suppose to play hd dvds (kinda retarded) but why would i need that if i already have it turned on to hd, i mean even the switch in the back is on hd...

That refers to the Xbox 360 screen output resolution. You can't 'turn on' HD-DVD/Blu-ray functionality from the Xbox 360 system menu.

The only high definition disc format that he Xbox 360 supports is HD-DVD, and only through the HD-DVD add-on player.

well i know you can't turn it on, i was just referring to the actual switch on the component/composite plug in that changes it from reg tv to hdtv. but so why if i change the output resolution why wouldnt it output hd...

it would be outputting in hd. however, the problem you're facing is that you need the hardware to play either hd-dvd or blu-ray. in your case, you can buy the hd-dvd add-on and watch the hd-dvd discs. however, microsoft currently does not support blu-ray. for blu-ray support, you will need to either purchase a standalone player or a ps3.

this disc itself has to be HD (hd-dvd or bluray), a dvd is not HD even though the 360 does 720p/1080i/p
