Default Anyone see "Big Fan" yet?

Wow this was really good. Patton was surprisingly excellent in this. As a sports fan and a sports talk radio listener (and occasional caller) I found this movie EXTREMELY faithful and realistic in regards to that whole ....subculture, if you will.

Not everyone is in the exact situation as Patton Oswalt's character (30+ years old, living with mother, working a toll booth) but damn near everything felt real. Nothing came off as "oh that's not right", because they nailed so much of it.

The "writing down your call and reciting it over and over as you wait to get on the air" thing is a long running thing in sports talk radio, although most people tend to prefer to go off the top of the head, there are many who do that and you can tell when you're listening to them, that they're reading their call.

And when he's on the phone and his mother gets on to tell him to keep it down, I just cringed in horror, because I've seen that go down on 3rd shift sports radio where some callers will live at home (younger callers) and you hear them talk and suddenly someone's like "why are you on the phone???"

It's hilarious if it doesn't happen to you. ha ha.

Plus, the general premise of this is something that I'd say that damn near everyone that is a fan of a sports team and/or a fan of talk radio, has to have this idea running in your head at some point.

What happens if someone who you root for, and is perhaps your best player on your favorite team, assaulted you and as a result was kept out of games. How would you feel knowing that YOU were the reason, (whether or not it was your fault or not) that your team is now losing?

That's gotta be a mothereffer for real.

Anyone else see this?

I thought it was decent and it was sort of realistic but I didn't really care. I wanted an opening and conclusion to the story. Instead its this stupid metanlly ill guy not realizing he's got issues. His brother's wife's tits were way too huge, it was kind of disgusting.

I thought it was ok. Nothing amazing, but not terrible either. Kind of felt like a made for TV movie, or a long episode of a TV show.

Just now finished streaming this through Netflix. Patton cracked me up, the guy had nothing in his life going for him except the Giants, only to be assaulted by his hero. Damn.........I am a massive Green Bay fan, and if I got assaulted by Rogers, I wouldn't know what to do lol. Than again, I live across the country so that's not likely, but still, Patton is such a tiny guy and Bishop was a damned giant (pun intended) whereas not that much of a difference height wise between Rogers and myself. Still a shitty place to be when you get attacked by your hero, more mentally than physically damaging. But I am not a big enough fan or crazy enough to do what he did, and pay for it. I'll stick to watching from my living room and not stalking celebrities, lol.

I like the movie. I've never really been a big Oswalt fan, but he nailed this role. I'm kind of a big fan character studies, and a pretty big sports fan too, so it makes sense that I would like it.

It's a marginally interesting movie. Worth a rent if you are a sports fan. Not as funny as tragic.
