Question Bette Midler "Beaches" and "Big Business" in Blu-ray??

Hi guys,

Does anyone know if the two Bette Midler movies from 1988 will be released someday on Blu-Ray?? I hope so much that my favorite 80's movies will be released on Blu-Ray soon

Yes, let's hope so. Bring out movies that appeal to all kinds of folks and bring 'em on board.

The more varied and expansive of a movie library can only be to BD's benefit.

I was curious as to how fast I'd get a response to my post. To each their own. Not my cup of tea but then I'm a cola type of guy

We need to bring out movies right now that will end the format war. I just don't see Beaches as something that will have people lining up to buy.

*SPOILER ALERT*

Imagine the tears of joy of thousands of women and legions of men crying to the 1080p version of Wind Beneath My Wings on Barbara Hershey's character funeral near the end.

I want it! Ahahahahhhaah

And I never actually bought it on DVD - it was never released where I live.

I loved "Big Business" growing up. I wouldn't mind seeing it released on blu-ray.

I don't foresee people lining up in large numbers to buy the movie either.

Interesting question: Will we see any of Disney's late-80's/early-90's Silver Screen Partners I-VII bulk-produced movies on disk?
IS it because they're "embarrassed" by them, or is there some legal entanglements that keep Dick Tracy and the Rocketeer off newer disk releases?

(Except for Roger Rabbit, of course, which they enshrine as The One Hit They Had Between 1983-1989, and guard jealously.)

I noticed this as well. Pretty Woman (which was probably Touchstone's biggest hit) is the only film from that era I've seen released on Blu.

Beaches was actually a very popular "chick flick", a lot of women and gay men would buy it on Blu. It might not sell to the Inception crowd, but if Sex And The City and Mamma Mia have done well, I don't see why Beaches cannot. Fanboys can't get that there is an audience out there beyond sci-fi, comic films and action movies.

Personally, I hope Fox gets to releasing The Rose, and actually delivering an edition that has extras on it. Without a doubt Midler's finest performance and a role she was nominated for an Oscar for (and won a Golden Globe) yet the DVD was bare-bones. I would get Beaches, Ruthless People, Down And Out In Beverly Hills and Outrageous Fortune as well for her Buena Vista titles.

Point taken, but... just because something is released doesn't mean you have to buy it. Every movie has its audience. Some people actually like "chick flicks" and Beaches is one of the ultimate chick flicks (along with Steel Magnolias) so what harm and foul is a Blu-Ray release? If you don't like it, don't buy it, you don't have to own every Blu-Ray in print.

I'd prefer The Rose to come out on Blu but I don't think it'd be the end of the world if Beaches came out. It was a success and has its demographic who would buy it.
