Lee Hirsch came to my university and we saw some clips of the film (and about the first 15 or 20 minutes of the film), and it (and Hirsch) was quite interesting/informative. I do wish we could have seen the full documentary while he was on campus, but that wasn't a possibility because the film was being put back into theaters, and so we had to pay if we wanted to see it (this was back in October, I believe).
If I somehow find money for it, I'll definitely try and purchase it. |

I saw it during its initial theatrical run, thanks in part to having an arthouse theatre that got it during its initial theatrical run. It's a very heartbreaking and sad story, I probably cried for half of it.
I thinking within 5 years, it will become mandatory viewings in schools. |

I did not really like this..
Basically it proves one thing... Schools wont do anything to stop bullying. the film makers heart was in the right place, but there is no resolution. and the apathy the school expresses just made me mad |

I'm confused about which version this is...
The Blu-ray page listing says it is "unrated." And nothing on the cover image Blu-ray.com provides indicates its rating. But when you go to the Amazon product page the image there says "PG-13 Version" right there in the middle of the cover. Anyone know which version is being released?? Or if both versions will be on the disc? |

The MPAA stamped it with a a R rating before it was released to theaters. Instead the Weinsteins then made the decision to release it NOT RATED because they feared the R rating would deter parents from taking their children to see it. The film has a lot of cussing, mainly bullies calling their targets f*ggots and b*tches, and the Weinsteins didn't want to have to edit the dialogue because they feared it would set them up as the film was sensationalized and not entirely accurate.
The MPAA board eventually gave it a PG-13 rating due to the public outcry and everything remains in tact. So there are no differences whatsoever. Last edited by Britnasty; 01-18-2013 at 08:59 PM. |
