Default getting xbr5, should i get hdmi 1.3 player?

Ok so now after i have finally figured out which tv i want (sony xbr5 46") i know am split between i should bet a BD player with 1.3 HDMI capability. I have a Bd-s300 which i have recently bought (and have an oppurutnity to return if it's really worth it). As far i know the s300 is only hdmi 1.1. Should i get a player that is hdmi 1.3?

I want to utilitze the tv's PQ to it's fullest and don't care much about audio but i don't know if it's really worth the hassel to return this play and get a new one.

Any help is much appreciated.

If you have the oportunity to exchange it, I'd consider it (for audio purposes) but for video, and immediate purposes, the s300 will do all you need it to do (PQ is gonna be the same across the board for you)

Audio is no big deal to me, everything sounds fine with my surround and don't feel the need to change it at all. PQ is ALL i'm concerend about and i know that xbr5 is hdmi 1.3 capable

Currently, there are very few electronics that are going to be able to take full advantage of the 1.3a. As far as sound goes, 1.1 will give you everything 1.3a will.... but id go for the 1.3a to take to use for the future...

In that case, get yourself a Pioneer or Panasonic plasma TV.

^^^ Geez, the guy said he already decided on a TV.

I would return it and get the PS3. If not for DTS-HDMA, then for load and start up time. I am not a fan of extras, but Live and Bonus View would be nice options as well.

I play a lot of video games and i'm worried about burn-in.

That and i saw quite a few lcd set ups at circuit city and was pretty impressed by the PQ they had. Definently made my mind up after seeing them .

I'm going to ask them this weekend if they have 1.3 hdmi set up on their tv's. I think they had the same BD player i have set up on the TV's they had on display but i can't remeber.

The load and start up time isn't to horrible on the s300. I was pleasantly suprised when it took less than 1 min for both. I also figured by getting a stand alone player i would have an extra $100 for BD movies

One thing that does worry me about my player is that all the circuit city and best buy adds had the s300 all over in the sunday paper. It seems when those places seem to do that it means they need to get rid of it now or they never will becuase of something else coming out... i'm done rambling now...

I have the S300 an don't mind the load and start up times that much, but would like DTS-HDMA. And yes something else is coming out, the S350 will be replacing the S300.

Don't be worried about burn-in. Just be careful for the first 100 ro 200 hundred hours, and you'll be fine unless abuse your TV.

TV's that look "great" in the artifical conditions in stores rarely look great in the reality that is your room. For example, is the place where you play games/watch TV as bright as the store (I doubt it!). My Sharp LCD TV looked great in the store. At home, where I usually watch in subdued lighting, it looks pretty bad (charcoal for black, etc.). Not crap, but I know a plasma set would be better. At the time I bought my TV, I don't think 32" plasma TVs existed--certianly not in my budget!

actually they had it in a dark part of their store with just a little light. I play in a darker room and watch movies in a very dark room. I am worried about image retention (have read posts of others that have this problem, but it does go away). They had a plasma (panasonic 700) which was in bright light and it didn't look NEARLY as good as the lcd in the dark. I'm not going to get a ps3 becuase the game selection SUCKS. The games that both are on the ps3 and xbox i heavily favor for the xbox because of xbox live.

What made you go with the xbr5 and not the xbr4??? They have the same exact insides and a few added features on the 5 but in terms of PQ they are the same...

Yeah, a PS3 is the solution for you. You will have the 1.3 HDMI, all the features in case you care about audio and BDLive later (and I bet you will), and a great gaming machine.

Wow. If the (any!) LCD TV looked better than the 700 series Panny, the latter must['ve been VERY poorly set up. (That, or you prefer the over-saturated colours that many LCD TVs produce...)

Yea, the ps3 is the WAY TO GO! Its getting better reviews on games than the 360 and is just starting to use its potential. Currently, the xbox is preventing game developers from using its full potential. Wait till more exlusives come out, your going to kick yourself for not getting the ps3...

i'll never kick myself for not getting a ps3. I've played on them and the only games i really ever liked where the twisted metal series (but i can play those on my modded xbox).

Even if you do not use it for games, it is the most fully functional blu-ray player in existence below the $400 price point that has what you want.
