Are most of the recent Blu-Ray announces for what I daresay are generally crap movies? After either BoB or Firefly (whichever was announced last) basically all of the announcements have been for movies that are not only not good movies, but really don't seem like they'd pack some extra ZING on BD. At least give us SOMETHING big, maybe not LOTR or SW or Indiana Jones, but I just feel like for our patience the studios should give us SOMETHING. I mean, really Blu-Ray isn't out of this yet, it still has other things to compete with besides HD-DVD, and I just feel like if they don't put out some more films that will convince people to go Blu then not only could they be screwed, but I would have bought two obsolete formats in one year.

It's true, there aren't that many good movies coming out soon (although V comes out soon). They still have to worry about AppleTV (who actually partnered with HBO and released Rome today).

They're just trying to crank some sales out of titles that are no longer selling on DVD. If they went straight to the good stuff, people's home video budget would go to that, and then they would never get any revenue out of their weaker old catalogue. It sucks.

Don't think you're alone. It's seems like there are many people here that don't actually seem to like any movies but thankfully, I'm not one of them.
![]() Anyway, as I usually say in threads like this, just try back in a couple of years since the selection will be larger and there's a better chance that you will find a movie or two that you like. |

I've been happy with the releases so far. As stated there has been a mix of titles. But I think it is time for the studios should throw us a bone and (at least) announce a release date for some of the movies that people are waiting for.

I have to agree that with the recent releases, its been nothing to brag over. My theory is that when they release movies, they release them based on what else is releasing then.
Therefore, we won't just see 1 good movie get announced but a boatload of them at once from the various competitors. Just because they are one big Blu family now, doesn't mean that they work together. |

Yeah, I mean there are a few good things coming out I just feel like they're trying to inflate the BD catalog with a lot of crap, along with a few good titles, instead of the studios worrying about trying to bring new people into the BD fold with some must-haves.

It really should be a no brainer for them. Look at box office numbers and DVD numbers (if already released), pick the 10% top of the crop and release those first. Why bother with crappy titles that bombed in theatres or on DVD already (bombed here is used relative to blockbusters)? |

Other than LOTR (which I'm not a fan of, but to each their own) and the Indy films, what "big movie" do they "owe" us???? In your opinion of course. |

Well we're heading into summer. Usually it's slow during this time for movies coming out on DVD/Blu-ray. Studios tend to focus on cinema releases. I'm sure we’ll see an increase in "good" titles during the Fall-Winter.

Gladiator or Braveheart would be great for so many reasons, not the least of which being that those are the reasons I bought a HD-DVD player and then got pretty screwed.

I as well have been pretty happy with the new releases. Narnia coming out. I might have to get Master and Commander. V would be a great purchase. I'm also excited about Short Circut coming soon. They are releasing a wide range of movies, which they need to for wider adoption of Blu-ray. Trust me, these movie releases (lame as they may be to you) will benefit you later because of these movies.

Now that the war is over, we are going to have to face it.... the studios were not ready.
We have to wait for them to really work hard on these top notch movies before we will see BD editions. I rather wait than have crappy copies anyways, I just wish they were ready earlier but I figure they were not sure which format would win and did not want to invest their time and money to release a movie to the wrong format afterall. |
