Default Viacom 1Q net rises 33% on networks, movies sales (and HD DVD $$$)

From nasdaq.com

Quote:
Viacom Inc. (VIA, VIAB) posted a 33% rise in first-quarter net income as strong sales of the music video game "Rock Band" boosted the networks unit, while the filmed-entertainment segment was aided by third-party distribution arrangements.

[...]

Revenue at the filmed-entertainment segment, which includes movie studios Paramount Pictures and DreamWorks SKG, rose 12% due to a 22% increase in home- entertainment revenue thanks to third-party distribution arrangements, including $29 million from the conclusion of an HD-DVD exclusivity arrangement. The HD-DVD format has succumbed to Blu-ray in the battle for next-generation DVD systems.
