Default klipsch quintet 3

Just wondering how good these speakers are. I want to get a new 5.1 surround sound setup and i saw the klipsch quintet 3 on amazon for 450 i'm getting the onkyo 605 next month and wanted to get good speakers so i could enjoy dts-HD and truehd. Would this be a good setup? i currently have a sony 5.1 surround sound.

I believe best-buy and other big box stores carry them, so you could probably hear them there. If it's just HT just listen as-is... if you listen to music, bring a couple of your own CDs

Good advice!
These are great speakers, at a good price especially if you geet free shipping & no sales tax.
BB gets $499.00 + tax.
Add the companion Klipsch 10" sub and you have s very good system.

I have the Quintet IIs with the KSW-10 sub. They're decent for entry-level, but if you could save a few hundred more, I'd highly recommend floor standing speakers. You'll find in a few years that you'll want more substantial speakers.

As far as the sub, it's NOT good. Bass is muddy and non-descript. For a cheaper, MUCH better sub, you can get the BIC H-100 for $249 shipped on ebay from two different certified sellers. It reaches much lower bass levels and gets much louder. It's one of the highest rated subs in its price range on Craigsub list (a professional sub review list, look on AVS Forum). Just my advice.

I'd go and listen and hear for yourself, but I don't like it. Plus, it's blown two fuses over the last few years, and they're $100+ to replace (I don't even have it turned up that loud).

Just a thought. Go to AVS Forum and see - you can do better for the money than a Klipsch sub, for less money.

Depends on the stands.
The Klipschs come with a swivel base that can be shelf, wall or ceiling mounted.
Unsctew the base, and you have an industry-standard socket for stand or bracket mounting. The socket is at an angle. so you would need a stand with an adjistable-angle mounting point.

KSW-10 - 55 watts continuous, @ ≤ 1% THD Dynamic Power*: 225 watts
Sub-10 - 200 watts continuous @ 1% THD, Dynamic Power: 420 watts

KSW-12 - 105 watts continuous @ ≤ 1% THD Dynamic Power*: 440watts
Sub-12 - 300 watts continuous @ 1% THD, Dynamic Power: 650 watts

@ Poonking
When you visit BestBuy and listen to the subs, pay attention to which model they are playing. I have two Sub-12's going and believe me these boys bang. At first I did get one Sub-10 and it was Ok to be honest.

I paid $369 each for the Sub-12 and $299 for the Quintet III. I did talk the price down from the already sale price that was going on at the time.
