Hey all, I am king of in the home stretch gettin my surround sound / home theater set up and I am starting to get anxious. One last peice of the puzzle is the subwoofer.
My receiver is a Pioneer vsx818v, budget is around 350, maybe 400 bucks but that will leave me broke. I am not a HUGE audiophile, nor am I glued to my movies. I just want something to sound decent with out blowing the bank. I don't watch a whole lot of movies or play a bunch of games, so I don't need anything high end. I was looking at a Klipsch Synergy SUB-12 off amazon for 350 but doing my search a Polk Audio PSW505 12-Inch for nearly 100 bucks less, around 255. Now the price is sounding really good. Its got good user reviews as does the Synergy, but it has more reviews. Both are listed at 300 watts, I think I read some place (could have been here on the forums) that the polk has a bit more range. Last night I was about 90% sure I was going for the Klipsch 12" sub... I see the polk, I save about 100 bucks, and get pretty much the same thing? I may have to do that. Either one of these subs the right choice for me? Should I go for the Polk? I can order this thing tomorrow ![]() |

Well, the deed is done, I killed my paycheck and the waiting game has started. I opted to save a few bucks (probably a bad idea, but we will see) and I ordered the Polk Audio PSW505 12-Inch sub from amazon.
![]() My feeble home theater is coming together ![]() In case you are wondering here are the specs: TV: 47" LG LCD Receiver: Pioneer vsx-818v Speakers: Klipsch quintet III's Sub: on a fedex truck, Polk 12" PSW505 Blu-ray: PS3, although I hope to add a stand alone player one of these days DVD: panasonic dvd-s29 (no optical out) ![]() And a huge mess of wires, remotes and lack of wall outlets LOL |

Well, I got my sub today! I am still trying to get my feet wet with this, but it is hooked up, now I probably just need to do some tweaking here and there. I am testing things out with Hancock
