Default Turning Klipsch Quintet III into 7.1

Anyone have any luck upgrading a 5.1 system to 7.1.
Have any luck finding the x-tra speakers......
I have not had any luck so far. Dont want to mis-match if I dont have to.
Any suggestions?????

I turned mine into a 7.1, well actually I never used them as a 5.1
I started out using them as the 7.1
If you look at my sig. you will see what I did.

We thought about buying 2 sets of quints to do it, but we ended up getting 2 sets of bookshelf, 2 surround speakers, a center and a sub. All Klipsch. we just got them today and aren't set up yet, so hopefully ours will sound good

Klipsch will sell you 2 matching surrounds for the Quintet III for about $85.00 each delivered.
Call Klipsch and ask for the parts dept.
I bought 2, so I know you can get them that way.

I sometimes ask myself that same question even tho I have them hooked up.
I surely do appreciate that whole hook up when I am listening to something that produces 7.1 and I would much rather have it then not to have it. The 805 does Matrix the 5.1 to 7.1 and that kinda makes up for anything less.

I would hate to tell an experience of having them with just a few movies but to hear those movies in the 7.1 was wonderful

I had thought about doing that, but when I mentioned it at the store I was told they wouldn't do it.

As I am typing this I can't see why that shouldn't work, but I am really happy I bought the 2 towers.

go straight to the manufacturer, and get the best from them. in a previous posting, a 5.1 vs a 7.1 would greatly depend on how you setup your system.

using a spl meter, and proper placement, you can get a highly effective 5.1 system, versus a mediocre 7.1 system anyday.

if your room is big then it will be worth the upgrade but if not it will just sound crowded and might not be a good idea

Those Quintet speakers sound quite good to me for their size. And the set is an excellent value. However, you might consider how soon you might want to upgrade your system after you go 7.1.

Given your set of facts, if you think you would want to upgrade relatively short term, i.e. within a year or two, I would lean toward perhaps applying the $170 ($85x2) to a pair of fronts and using the four matching Quints for your four surrounds. You'd probably want to change out the center next to have a good match on your "three across." But that way you'd avoid spending your money twice, so to speak.

On the other hand, if you see yourself running this rig for a while, get the other two on the way. Or check ebay or Craigslist. I think you can find suitable speakers for those last two slots for less money and the matching is much less of an issue.

I did the same thing as HAMP, except I used RF-52's instead for my fronts.

Good point about the 805, but I like to leave it in pure audio with bd's.
I mess around while listen to mp3 (I have my computer feeding into the 805 into my Aquos) but I find all channel stereo works best. I cant describe exactly how it sounds matrexing stereo into 5.1 but it's bad.

Don't get me wrong, I'm extremely happy with my setup but you all know how it is. I've gone this far, what might I be missing...........
