Lost Season 3: Limited Edition?

Was the release for Lost: Season 3 that included the hard cardboard flap case with the letter from the producers a limited edition or exclusive release? I recently purchased the set on eBay, and to my surprise the cardboard case wasn't included, only the standard plastic one. When I emailed the seller, he told me it wasn't included when he got it. I called Buena Vista Home Entertainment customer service, and they had no record of it in their inventory for replacement. I see plenty of both versions (with and without the cardboard case) on eBay, but don't get why some do and some don't include it.

I bought the "regular" edition and it came with the cardboard case. It's well crafted too.

I don't think it was limited, that I know of. I have seen both versions being sold at BB though. I bought mine at target and it was with the cardboard case.

Much like a lot of other releases that come with an outer case, B&M stores seem to get the slipcase editions in their initial shipments, then just have the interiors thereafter. I don't know if the same is true of online vendors.

That said, I'm trying to be REALLY good and be patient for Lost Complete Series Blu ray, since I'll likely only watch it again after the series finale anyway.

After the Season Finale, I plan to watch the entire series all over again just to pick up on EVERYTHING. It may even take a couple of viewings.

I don't know whether or not it was limited, but the slipcovers often are in my opinion. I'm sure you can find someone willing to send you theirs at no charge. I know I certainly don't use mine, but I'm in Canada, and I'm sure you could get for less shipping from someone else.

Feel free to PM me sometime if you can't find anyone else and you want it for the cast of shipping from Canada.

Good luck with that, both on the waiting (i couldn't do it) and the time it will take to watch the series sequentially, especially considering its a "pay attention" show rather than a "leave on in the background while doing other stuff" show.

why oh why won't they release the first two seasons on blu

Mine was also from amazon but it came with the slipcover... It's nice but it's not that useful.

I'm hoping when I pay attention the second time through that I'll have a lot of "aha!" moments as future events get foreshadowed.
I'm patient though and I have LOTS to watch in the meantime... including the next 2 seasons of LOST

There are so many "Ah ha!" moments in season 3 that I only noticed after watching the whole season through like 5 times. Lots of forshadowing going on, so its safe to assume that season 1 and 2 have just as much forshadowing.

I really wish they would get off their butts and release season 1 and 2 on Blu!

I plan on doing the same thing and by the time I am done season 4 will be out on blu.

If you're looking for older seasons of Lost and Gray's (or other shows, like Smallville) on Blu-ray, you'll have to wait a little longer. Industry sources are telling us that BD authoring and replication facilities are packed with work on new release and catalog film titles for the holidays, so older TV product is taking a back seat right now, at least until later in the year. They'll come eventually, but it's going to take some time.

Actually, I was more refering to the entire series after the FINAL series finally (meaning after season 6). That'll take me forever, but I should be able to pick up on a LOT of things.

I believe the ebay seller lied to you. I see these slipcovers stolen in stores all the time. Why? I have no idea, but that guy was probaby keeping it for some reason
