Default Are we blindly supporting the executive elite...?

Reading through the threads, I came upon the one commenting on Master and Commander being on the shelves a few days early...got me excited a bit so I moved on over to Amazon.com to check out pricing/features.

What did I find but another Fox release that, like Predator, is overpriced and without any additional features that come on the DVD special edition version.

I read quite a few comments on the page complaining to this fact...saying that Fox sees that it can just dump out a title without any extras and charge a good $35 (list price...I'm sure we'll find it for $19 at Target in 2 weeks).

So, now that we've won the war for them, do we not feel that we desrve a bit more than this? I know the bottom line is the audio/video transfer, and companies are doing much better with that as of late, but if I'm going to drop DVD and go Blu, I expect some incentive other than just reading

1080P!!!!! LOSSLESS AUDIO!!!! THE FUTURE OF HOME ENTERTAINMENT!!!!!

If not, then price an older title where it should be....$19.99 to start. Or at least give me my digital copy that I can put on my PSP or something!

P.S. Don't think I won't own this movie in the next few weeks...I'm as in as anybody...just ranting...

I don't own a single Fox Blu-ray yet. I've been watching them closely ever since the Robocop release. To me, the only thing they have out there that I deem worth the pennies is I, Robot. I'll get that one someday when it's around $20 and I have the funds.

Seriously, I'm pretty disappointed with them up to this point. $35 ($27 Amazon) price tags on mediocre transfers w/out extras isn't exactly winning me over.

+1 to the above.

The lesson here is: definitely don't buy any release that either A) Fails to live up to expectations or B) is too expensive to justify. This includes most, if not all Fox titles for me. I will never spend $35 on a Blu-ray unless it's Lord of the Rings.

Only on new releases.

Not sure about Universal, but Paramount's MSRP for catalog titles is $29.99 (around $19.99 at Amazon).

I have more Fox titles than any other studio. Only a couple of them have I resorted to paying over $30. I've got 25 of them.
