doh! its the other way around. you can do a reset by holding down the power button until you hear the second beep and redo your video settings

are you sure you are using "Component" cables and not the "Composite" cable?

in other words...are you using the cable that came with the PS3? or did you buy another cable?

Are you sure you're using component?

PS3-compatible component cables look like this:

You need to provide information about your TV (and receiver if applicable) as well.

most important if you are using Component cables (like the pic above)....

Red ---> Red
Blue --->Blue
Green ---> Green

...maybe you have colors mixed? (or not pushed in firmly?)

eh its hard to explain but the cables are plugged into a wall and some switch feeds it through the projector prob does help anything but it does work on my 360.

Oh, I know what your issue is.

OK, here's what to do.

Step 1: Get the composite (red/yellow/white) cable that came with your PS3, and connect it to your TV on the composite port.

Step 2: Turn on the PS3 and hold the button for several seconds until you hear a second beep.

Step 3: Switch the channel on your TV to the composite connection that the PS3 is using.

Step 4: In the Cross Media Bar menu of the PS3, navigate to settings, and set your Video Output to be Component.

Step 5: Connect the component cables (if you unplugged them for some reason)

Step 6: Switch the channel on your TV to the component connection and see if the video shows up.

Step 7: Disconnect the composite cables since you won't need them any more.

NOTE: Make sure you pay attention to when I'm saying "composite" or "component" - the two words are fairly similar.

Surely just hooking up the component cables and holding standby should do the trick? I haven't tried it.

You'd think so, but I don't use component, so not 100% sure. I know it auto-detects HDMI, but HDMI is sort of designed for that sort of thing...

Do you get video when you use the default composite cables? Also, have you tried a different set of composite cables? Could be bad cables.
