Aygie needs a new player and Drive - opinions please!

Hey guys

Its my Dads birthday on the 24th and i'm thinking about getting him a player, me i've had my trusty PS3 since day one (live in the UK by the way) but i dont think thats really his cup of tea. I need to get him a nice stand alone.

Now, no BD live (i dont think he'll give a crap about that) but profile 1.1 yeah why not. At the moment theres some good prices in the UK (http://www.play.com/Electronics/Elec...archtype=genre) and i get 10% discount at play too which is great. So which is the best of the bunch? I'm looking at the Sony BDPS300 (good price + 4 free movies = )

Is it Profile 1.1? (i know im being lazy but this is my home so i'd rather discuss it here than fanny about the net )

His setup is 1080i TV (yeah i know), Denon 1906 Amp and 5.1 Speakers.

What do you think?


Oh and for me i need a BD drive for my mac (it'll be on XP running boot camp) any ideas?
