New Onkyo 605 Owner w/ older Sony 5.1 setup

Thanks to the generous amounts of information taken from these threads, I have decided to update my home theater (such as it is) with an Onkyo 605 receiver. I am replacing an older (about 5 or so years) Sony "home theater in a box" setup but it will be some time before I replace the speakers (probably with Klipsch Quintet III's and the Klipsch 12" sub). The system is a 600 watt setup when the 100 watt sub is included, with small speakers all around. The sub chuffs pretty harsh as it is, so it will probably go before the rest of the speakers do, as soon as I can find a good deal on the sub I want. Anywho, I was just wondering if there was any advice you could give or any kind of interesting little ticks I should be aware of when incorporating this new receiver into my setup.
