Clerks II? - Blu-ray Forum

I saw it was released on HD-DVD this week. In a booklet I got in my copy of Talladega Nights when I bought my PS3 showing upcoming BD movies it showed Clerks II. Is is coming out on BD?

Hmm...that would be interesting to see, being that Weinstein is the only other exclusive studio for HD-DVD. This was listed in a pack-in brochure in the PS3? Maybe they're switching over already

Are you sure? Can you provide a scan? This is the first I have heard of a Weinstein title coming to Blu-ray.

it might have been jay and silent bob strike back, and not clerks 2, if Im remembering correctly.

You might be right. I may have just assumed at the time since Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back was coming out that Clerks II would, but I will check for sure.

Clerks 2 is one of Weinstein's 5 titles(jk), and since they are HD-DVD exclusive we won't be seeing this on BD until the Weinsteins decide to support BD.

MGM's name is on Clerks 2 in addition tro Weinstein's. Can they not publish it on blu-ray?

MGM just distributed the film for them theatrically. They have no say in how it's released on home video in the states. That said, seeing how quiet Weinstein has been lately, with no new title announcements other than their partner Genius distributing some BDs for ESPN I believe, I'm a little hopeful that the lul may indicate they're considering going neutral soon. Though, if they are, they may end up waiting on Warner's THD (hope not).

They did a very nice job with all of their last batch of AVC encoded HD DVDs. A couple even included TrueHD. Though, it was a farcry from the quality we've come to expect from PCM. Whether bound by the encoding or the mix, I don't know. I was a little surprised to see that despite a 2-disc set (60GBs), none of the extras were in high def though.

I agree 100% and get destroyed on AVS for even suggesting it, PCM kills TrueHD, it's not apples to apples, but something ain't clickin with TrueHD or DD+, the DTS Master core tracks are even better than them

I've given up on AVS. I can't even go there without losing an hour or two trying to help people that would rather live in denial than face the fact that they're missing out by blindly supporting only HD DVD. I don't have the time or the temperment right now.

I thought the feature was an HD-DVD and the second disc was original DVD. Were they both 30GB?

Yes. Both discs are dual-layered HD DVDs.
