Default downloadable PS2 games

So lots of people have asked about downloadable PS2 games over PSN and lots of people have replied with they would be too big for downloads but with RA having 975MBs and I'm not sure what MGS is but I'm sure its big i thought i should check some early realeased and some later released PS2 games to compare;

007: Agent Under Fire - 3.74GB
Simpsons Road Rage - 2.31GB
Lego Star Wars - 609MB (wow thats small)
GTA Vice City - 4.34GB
GTA Vice City Stories - 3.85GB (they could probably make this smaller, I mean the PSP one was 1.8GB)
Eyetoy: Play - 4.18GB
The Urbz: Sims in the City - 4.15GB
Just Cause - 3.38GB (small for such a large game)
Worms 3D - 2.04GB
Worms 4 Mayhem - 1.40GB (what its smaller yet better than W3D)

So theres a small selection of games, I guess the main problem is the 40GB unless they released emulation or only allowed 20/60/80GB users to use them

*Can't find MGS2/3 I'll upload when I find them

I am intensely interested in this. I am also intensely interested in more PS1 games being available for download (FF games in particular). I would also like to see some way of possibly being discounted on such downloadable games if you already own the hard copy (that's a stretch).

If they would offer PS2 downloads, I think all the 40gb owners would be left out since the system does not play PS2 software. They would have to add the software emulation though a firmware update. And it does not seem that they want to do that, because they would have done it already.

I would be all for more PS1 and PS2 games availible for download. Turthfully I would probably not download them, but I would like the option there and I feel that the store has been lacking in content although it is getting better as of late.

or they could make the PS2 downloads compatable with 40GB systems thorugh very basic porting.

I would think they would be too lazy in developement to port a PS2 game to PS3 for the simple fact of making it available for download. Of course I know nothing of the process, but I think the PS1 games available for download are for the most part just the game code and the systems treat it almost the same as the disc.

There is also not a rush to make PS2 games downloadable because Sony is still marketing and selling the PS2. The PS2 is still in it's 10 year life cycle. Maybe toward the bitter end of the life cycle or after it is over, we will see PS2 downloads.

remember with data compression now much better than it was when the ps2 first launched the games could be smaller than the original ps2 iso's.

ps2 downloads will happen but its prob about a year or so away, i just want the port of ps1 sukoden to come along

These games would have to be dirt cheap for me to even bat an eyebrow at it. You could just go to Gamestop and pick up most of the games on that list for next to nothing. Having never played a GTA game, I paid (wasted) $7 for a copy of GTA3 a few weeks before 4 dropped but I'm sure that game would have cost at least twice as much on the Playstation Store.(I know, some of you would rather pay Sony $20 to download it then give any money to Gamestop but whatever).

It would be a smart move -- just like releasing a TON of PS1 games on PSN would be a smart move. WHY Sony hasn't done it is beyond logical explanation. In fact a lot of what they have done is beyond logic.....look at Nintendo -- they're selling consoles by adding features such as Virtual Console.....meanwhile Sony takes away some of the Virtual Console functionality in the 40GB model because they feel they're selling too many PS2 games and not enough PS3 games? WTF - they don't realize that simply giving yet another reason for people to buy a PS3 will eventually reap rewards in more PS3 owners and therefore more PS3 games sales????
