Default Which version of Lord of the Rings will be released to BD first?

I've seen on another website that when these are released that it will be the theatrical versions only and not the extended version of the films. Does anyone know which version is due out?

To add to some discussion, I'm of the opinion these will get released in 2010 to coincide with the release of The Hobbit to theatres.

All I know for sure is that if the theatrical cuts are released first, I won't buy them. I'll stay with my un-cut Dee Vee Dees until the un-cut versions are released on BD.

Really, for those of us who have seen the extended versions, after seeing them, who could possibly want the theatrical versions?

Yeah ok. Arguably the best trilogy of all time, and you wont spend 60-90 dollars on it while you wait for the extended version? If thats true, have fun waiting

The Lord of the Rings trilogy has always been my favourite trilogy ever, and the reason I haven't bought any of the DVDs is because I don't want to risk overwatching it until it's released on Blu and I can experience it in high definition. If they release the theatrical versions, I would still buy them, but they really should release it in either a box set, steel book or a slipcase with both the theatrical and extended versions.

They SHOULD (key word) release the extended version. But this is a money making industry, and they will make you double dip. And as much people say they wont, they will double dip

Give us BOTH versions and EVERYBODY will be happy! For me personally, the extended cuts are what I want.

No its just common sense. If its one of your favorite movies, you will buy it reguardless. Did you buy Narnia even though it was theatrical?

Lord of the Rings was one of my favorite movies, but no extended version = NO SALE.

Simple as that.

The good news is that Bill Hunt mentioned that New Line is aware that many fans of the series will probably wait it out for the extended versions.

Lets hope thats true.

However, no force in heaven or hell will ever get me to buy the theatricals.

I agree with my Roman friend. After having both the theatrical and extended in DVD, I'll take what's closer to the book.

I want the Extended version as much as the rest of you, but not at the expense of waiting likely more than a year more at least for it. I will pick up LOTR all 3 no matter what version the first day, likely at midnight. And im sure most of you will pick it up as well

In this thread and the Hulk thread, I guess I'm purchasing LOTR theatrical versions and The Hulk 2 without my consent.

I better stop while I'm behind.
