Yeah ok. Arguably the best trilogy of all time, and you wont spend 60-90 dollars on it while you wait for the extended version? If thats true, have fun waiting

The Lord of the Rings trilogy has always been my favourite trilogy ever, and the reason I haven't bought any of the DVDs is because I don't want to risk overwatching it until it's released on Blu and I can experience it in high definition. If they release the theatrical versions, I would still buy them, but they really should release it in either a box set, steel book or a slipcase with both the theatrical and extended versions.

They SHOULD (key word) release the extended version. But this is a money making industry, and they will make you double dip. And as much people say they wont, they will double dip

Give us BOTH versions and EVERYBODY will be happy! For me personally, the extended cuts are what I want.

That is how the major studios get us movie fans, time and again. As much as I love the EE versions of the movies, if they released the Theatrical Cuts I would probably get them. For these I would double dip. The thought of watching these movies in glorious 1080p with lossless audio makes me drool in anticipation. I just hope that now New Line is a part of Warner and they do use a VC-1 encode, they don't overuse that damn DNR. It makes everything look soft and plastic like.

I am a big fan, I even own a freaking ring and I will not double dip. I already did though with DVDs but I won't with Blu's. Only extended for me.
You post like you've had way too many redbulls.

I really would not. I would only purchase the extended editions. Once I bought the extended versions on DVD, I sold the theatrical versions and do not plan to watch them again. They were great, but the extended versions are close to perfection.

I really don't think I'd buy it twice either. After seeing the extended versions, the theatrical versions just don't seem complete. The added material really does make the movies. That said, if I didn't already have the DVDs to hold me over, I'd probably buy the first thing that was released.
