Why haven't movie theatres change their screens to show High definition?
The technology is there either by satellites or HD blu-ray if they want boost their profits since HD can show off movies better if they want improve and show 21st century technology |

Theatres have been showing resolutions higher than what HDTV allows for decades. The reason theatres don't look as good as watching highdef on your HDTV at home is because the movie is being displayed on a much much larger screen. It's the home video side that needs to catch up.

t doesn't help that Cinema's use analogue film that degrades and gets dirty everytime it's used. The picture quality at my local cinema is poor imo, with dirt and noise clearly visible all over the screen.

How could movie theatres be showing HD when they still use huge film canisters
![]() I agree with Rob especially when the screen burns a hole in the film its the theatres that have to catch up with technology |

If people could afford to purchase 35mm transfers, and do reel-to-reel projections in their homes, TRUST ME.... people would.
If you could afford a 300" LCD television, (and one was made) you'd say "wow these hardware and software producers need to get off their butts, because 1080p isn't good enough" That's your basic argument with the theater right now...... the resolution they display on their enormous screens is great, considering the magnitude of the display..... I don't really think they "have to improve" although I'm sure they will, but any improvement at the theater will likely not be realized by you in your home...... The "transfer" is the limiting factor here. |
