Default WB future plans: Shazam, Green Arrow, Johnny Quest...

Looks like Warner Brothers are taking notice of how well Iron Man has done and seems to be readying counter programing at the Cinema. Plans include:

Shazam
Supermax: Green Arrow
Johnny Quest
The Flash
Wonder Woman
Justice League
He-Man
Harry Potter films
Elm St remake
Hobbit

Here's the article:

The boys over at IESB.net have received lots of info on Warner Brother’s upcoming movie slate and it’s a mouth full! As reported HERE before, the script for Supermax: Green Arrow is pretty damn amazing, and looks like we’ll see the other green guy on theater screens soon.

Iron Man seems to have opened up a Pandora’s Box for Marvel, as they are in a rush to bring more of its library of characters to the big screen. Plans are in motion to try and bring The Flash, Wonder Woman, The Green Lantern and Justice League of America to theaters sometime within the next 3 years.

Now although Shazam doesn’t seem to have the same popularity as Batman, Spider-Man, or now Iron Man, it seems Warner Bros. can smell a winner here as this super hero flick seems to be the one everybody at WB is talking about. The only thing that could slow it down looks to be the SAG strike as of this writing.

Jonny Quest is another film WB is drooling over. Jonny Quest written by Dan Mazeau is the highly popular Hanna-Barbera cartoon that original aired 1964 to 1965. While talking exclusively to Peter Segal the guys over at IESB learned that a few years back Segal had been attached to Jonny Quest.

If you’ve been reading Latino Review faithfully, as you should be, you know the new He-Man script review is up. Looks like Eternia is a trip that movie-goers will soon be making. The script looks badass and I cant think of anything stopping this one from being a hit…unless its watered down by the MPAA.

IESB also reports about the possibility that WB may explore releasing Zack Snyder's WATCHMEN during the summer instead of its March 6th, 2009 release date, should be interesting to see what happens there.

In conclusion, with the Harry Potter films, the Nightmare on Elm Street remake and now the new Hobbit franchise, it looks like WB is going to have a few good summers ahead them.

There’s nothing better than some good old fashioned competition for the other studios to battle against.

I'm not that familiar with The Green Arrow. Wish someone would do one for The Green Lantern though.

I watched the live-action Shazam TV show regularly on Saturday mornings. I wonder if the tone of the movie will be serious or tongue-in-cheek? I'd like to see them do one for Isis also.

Definitely looking forward to Wonder Woman and The Flash.

The Adventures of Jonny Quest should be interesting. Hope they make the movie based on the earlier one though and not the series from the 90s (I think it was).

It would be really nice to see The Justice League done. I thought that was being worked on and got canceled though. Anyway, if they do it and have Superman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, The Green Lantern, Aquaman and Batman all in the same movie, that should be pretty interesting.

I am a big fan of Johnny Quest, and I am hoping that Warner goes all out on this one. Hopefully, they learned their lesson from the Speed Racer fiasco.

I hope we get Shazam! Even though Captain Marvel is not quite as well known now as certain other superheroes, I could see the studio loving the idea of a kid turning into a superhero as the basis of an action blockbuster.

We need an animated movie based off Kingdom Come geared to adult fans and my life will be complete.

Kingdom Come would be a Fantastic one. I wish that they would use the voices from the JL cartoons such as Kevin Conroy and George Newbern, etc. I was kinda upset that they didnt use those voices for Superman: Doomsday or Justice League: The New Frontier. I think Kevin Conroy has been the best voice for Batman. I've watched him since the Animated series. Well I'll have my fingers crossed.

Thumbs up

I'd love to see Captain Marvel aka Shazam make it to the big screen. It would be awesome to see The Rock as the villian Black Adam. Also, they need to make movies of Green Lantern & The Flash. They'd be all great!!!!

Warner/DC's attempt to get momentum going for Green Arrow (after pasting him into Justice League, Smallville and his own spinoffs) is reaching compulsive to the point of frightening.

But, at least now they're following Marvel, instead of leading it, in the "Excuses to get the group-hero movie going" war.
