composite and spdif - Blu-ray Forum

Hi

I'll be getting a PS3 when it arrives to Europe.
I do have one question.

Can I get the pcm5.1 through the spdif cable to my denon AVR 3806? while sending image through composite or component? (No HiDef projector yet)

Interesting question... in the PS3 set up, if you select the optical out, you get choices of DTS, Dolby 5.1, AAC, and two flavors of two channel LPCM output. to get 7.1 LPCM, you have to use HDMI out.

Long story short, last night on Underworld Evolution, I selected the uncompressed LPCM output in the movie, and looking at the display of the reciever, it was getting the LPCM signal, and playing in definate 5.1 audio.

Was it true 5.1 LPCM out? don't know

Was it playing as if it was? - yes

Did it sound good? - No, it sounded freaking OUTSTANDING!
