That cover picture got my adrenaline going! I hope it comes sooner to the US.

He he. Should have been direct to video in the first place, or, not made at all.

Too bad the movie got my R.E.M. into full gear.

[/threadpoopery]

Still, I bet I would rent it solely for the technical aspects of it. Not buy though. Yes, I have nothing positive to say! And I'll come into a thread regardless if I have nothing nice to say!

Sheesh. Getting angry about potential "future" responses.

Look for it around September/October in the US. Won't stay much longer in the theaters, and the studio will want to take advantage of any promotional effect that is left.

Yeah, that's my guess. Early summer films usually start to show up on shelves then. Hopefully, the studio and stores with Blu-Ray displays will use Speed Racer to promote the benefits of Blu over DVD. I think the picture and sound will be top notch.

I remember reading that too, but I doubt that WB will wait that long now. Late September is my guess. They'll hope that rental and sales shelves will have little new competition for $$.

I doubt that WB would announce this title this soon after it's box office debut. Memorial Day weekend is still to come, and IMAX has it booked for a couple more weekends.

One of the UK more known film critics (BBC's Mark kermode) gave it a pretty good (and funny!) review on his radio show (which is recorded and put on youtube) where he talks about how amazing it is visually:

"I want[ed] to run home, get my kids to bunk off school so that they could come and see it!"

My guess as to the reason why this film isn't playing well is that the Wachowskis made a film FOR Speed Racer fans. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be as many as they hoped for. I personally loved the cartoon when it was re-released on cable in the '90s and the movie was kick-ass. It was probably the most fun I've had in a theater since Serenity (another small TV to film adventure that wasn't seen much in theaters).
