Default Sequels and Remakes Are Good For Blu-ray

Okay, so I'm one of those people that die a little bit every time I hear about a sequel or a remake to a classic, but I think I may have found a little place for them in my heart. With the recent announcement of The Lost Boys coming to Blu-ray along with the sequel I have found a bit of hope. If Indy 4 is released on Blu-ray and the possibility of the trilogy coming along with it makes me happy. Plus I can't help but to think that because of the upcoming Wall-E movie, Short Circuit was released. Also, with all the new Batman releases coming in July, it makes me hopeful for Burton's Batmans coming out soon. The new Rambo movie brought the first three along with it. Because of the new Narnia: Prince Caspian we got the first Narnia. If I'm not mistaken, the first three Die Hards and the box-set were released with the 4th one right? Universal is releasing the Mummy movies to help promote the third one. I can't believe I'm saying this, but I'm actually looking forward to more remakes and sequels .

I agree somewhat. I really don't replace alot of older movies that I allready own on DVD. A movie like "Goodfella's" for example is not that much greater on Blu. I did re-buy, but it's an exception.

If a movie was made in the last 4-5 years, I do agree it deserves a Blu remake. Especially if a sequal is comming...

I am looking forward to sequels, those I don't mind, as long as it stays with the continuity of the series as set forth by the original movies. The remakes are where it bugs me, it's like saying, "Your memory isn't worth it to us, let us remake your entire childhood". They need to leave the classics alone, and give us new sequels, not re-hashed lets take the original script and tinker with it a bit and throw in a bunch of CGI, and then completely rewrite the script and throw in more CGI, and then throw the original out the window completely and give us something that is like the original in name only.

I think remakes only work for the younger generations and not ones who saw the original.

Your missing the point of the OP. His point is that if they remake a movie (or make a sequel) you are likely to get the original one remastered for Blu-ray, allowing you to get your originall childhood memories in 1080P with great audio!

Whether or not the remake or sequel should be made is a completely different discussion.
