Standard DVD playback problem

I have a Sony BDP-S301, and I've never had a problem with it until now. I was watching a standard DVD (The X-Files Season 9, Disc 1, Episode 4,) and it always freezes at the same point (about 8 1/2 minutes in.) When this happens, if I hit the skip or fast forward buttons, nothing happens. If I hit the menu button, you can hear the menu come on, and it says menu on the display of the player, but the picture remains the frozen image. The DVD works fine on other players in my house (I checked,) and I have the latest firmware upgrade for my Blu-ray player. Other discs from this set work fine, what is my problem. If anyone out there has had similar problems, or can point me in the right direction I would greatly aprreciate it. Thanks for your help.
