Add-on Coolers Worth It?

With the PS3 external cooling systems coming out starting next week, I am interested to see what people think about it. I have heard various things--

Some say that it's not worth the purchase, since the system does ok cooling itself.

Others say that it won't harm the system, and it will only prolong the consoles life.

Thoughts?

I myself have heard from people that they are a waist of money that they don't really do much to help but I dont know from personal experiance

I've read that the ps3's cooling system is actually pretty advanced. I dont think it would hurt, but probably not worth the $$$$

I've heard stories about that one model for the 360 actually HURTING the system more than helping it.

My PS3 barely heats up as it is, so I'll defintiely not risk it.

I actually heard that too, it "melts" onto the system or something.

Agreed. You shouldn't need to buy a cooler for console, if it was really needed it'd come in the box. of course common sense helps too, ps3 next to a space heater = bad
