I did a great post about a girl I knew who said that HD and standard def are the same thing. That was 2-3 years ago. So she finally got a flat screen TV last year(2008); A 20" 4:3 no-name LCD with sub CRT contrast with her DVD player via the composite video. She is right, it's no better then her old set. Takes the cake as the worst I have seen. I don't even get the chance to give her the right video cable.

My question is this: will my wife (who knows/cares next to nothing about audio tech) really notice a difference b/n optical and HDMI audio? Does yours? My thinking is that if the wife notices a difference, then I definitely will...and the decision to upgrade will be a no brainer.

There is hope

Sorry, this is my camera's way of saying "GET AN HDTV YOU DOUCE!"

Actually my digital camera is pretty old. I had 3 desk lamps shining towards it, the Sunlight and my ceiling light and it came out darker than the inside of a coffin.

I still think yellowblanket's post is the best to date:

i recently saw the set up of this guy in a magazine, i hear great thing, i hear it's cost him 6 millions of american dollars.
I do not have that much amount of money, not in cash anyhow.

what i have here is 500 american dollars. i will try my best to re-create and hopefully go beyond the 6 millions of american dollars. It is not in my intention of versus such an expensive set up, ... but rest assure, my set up will look and sound just as good if not better.

Here is the 6 million of american dollars

He have many speakers! but no blu-ray!

Here is my set up, i have hear great thing about blu-ray 1080p. I went out to buy the best blu-ray player there is ...a Playstation Three!
I did not know that it's cost 400 dollars, my budget is greatly reduce from 500 dollars to 75 bucks. They made me pay tax at the store, i tried to agrue that i don't owe Sam any money at all, and that he isn't my uncle. I don't even have an uncle!. But at the end, they made me pay tax anyway....i failed.
with 75 dollar left to finish my dream home theater set up, i then have no choice but to finish my shopping at the local salvation army.
lucky me! i found great deal!
2 surround sound yamaha speaker, COME WITH WIRES! the worker there told me that this speaker throw the sound around the room, creating the surround effect, and that i don't reallyneed anymore than 2 speakers for my set up.
I also bought a huge AUDIOBARN subwoofer! it is for automobile but i am very sure that i would work just as the same if not better! again, IT'S COME WITH FREE SPEAKER WIRE! EXELENT DEAL!
at last, i spent the rest of my money on the big screen 9 inches tv. This is a great steal and it's does 1080p easilly he told me. I WAS ESTATIC! it was 9 inches! that is longer than my thing! ...

sHOPPING IS DONE!
Here is my set up...the picture does not do it justice, my set up look alot sweeter in real life. The sound is blew me away! i hook them all up on my receiver that i already have at home.

as you can see, i build a little thing called basetrap in the corner of the subwoofer, it is very nice!

Thanks you for looking at my set up, you can stop droolin now.
Which set up do you think is better?
if you lives in the michigan area, you are welcome to come see demo of my theater. to give you more inspiration for the future if you are to build one of your own.

Is that your whole entertainment corner? If you don't use the VHS and laserdisk players, you might wanna put them in storage to free up some space.

That reminds me of when I was in college last year, the school got new televisions in all the lobbies, and they were approximately 30" widescreen LCD HD tvs, pretty nice considering the rest of the campus. But they had all the dvd players, and cable hooked up via coaxial. WTF?

maybe.... is that CRT? Does it do HD?
If it is and it does not do HD, then my answer would be yes.

Maybe you can say my setting is more compact than you, and worse, but at least I can play HD audio (4.1 built in) and video (720p to 1050p)
