Default Are the funai/magnavox players in walmarts lemons?

One of the workers that I know said that they had to switch to PS3s after some of the new players quit working. Does anybody else have any information on the reliability of these players?

Why start such a negative thread about something that you do not own ? There is a thread with feeback from people who actually own the player. I do not know many electronics Manufacturers whose products hold up to display abuse. Could be dirty discs no?

nothing wrong with trying to find out more information and getting it from more than one source.

There really is no way to judge the reliability (accurately) yet on these players, they are still too new.

I've had my Magnavox for about three weeks and it still runs smoothly without one problem.

Lemons? Well considering they are built with Sony (optical head) and Panasonic parts (Panasonic UniPhier chipset) I would say no. Although they are new, many first end users have tried them out and we know the following: They have a sturdy build quality, they load quicker than most all of the standalone BD players (minus the BD-30, but load times are relatively similar) they navigate BD-J titles without difficulty and they are profile 1.1 and have been shown to play PIP (bonus view) titles without problems. So yes it is early, but so far these players have exceeded expectations. Sony and Panasonic have indirectly made sure that they are a quality product.

I think it does a great job, I have used mine a couple days and it works fine still. I think people shouldn't talk bad about these players because players like these, with the cheap price tag will attract many more to Blu-ray.
