Probably for me.

Every time I see that title, though, I so want it to be Repo Man. The life of a repo man is always intense...

Agreed. One good scene and everyone who's seen the movie knows what I'm talking about. Other than that, it was garbage. Damn shame. It had a pretty good cast.

I really liked Repo Men, and am surprised by the 2.5/5 review...

Default Re: Kenneth Brown's Review

I just wanted to point out that Repo Men was based on a book by Eric Garcia that he began writing in early 2003 based on an original idea (though not published until early 2009), which seems, in the review, to have been a pretty large oversight. Think what you want about the movie but it's originality shouldn't be under too much scrutiny without supplying all the facts.

I was commenting on the similarities between the two, the 'Repo!' filmmakers insinuations (which was a fairly well-publicized snafu late last year and earlier this year), and the fact that the original 'Repo!' stage play was produced in 1999 or 2000, some three or four years before Garcia even began dreaming up the early stages of "Repossession Mambo" in his head. Even then, Garcia's book wasn't finished and published until 2009, and the only proof of its 2003 genesis is Garcia's assertions. It's also unclear how much the story changed between 2003 and 2006 (2006 being the first year, as I understand it, that Garcia can legally establish the existence of "Repossession Mambo"). Flaring tempers further was the 'Repo!' filmmakers' claim that Universal liked the idea of 'Repo!' but didn't want to produce it as a musical and passed. The fact that Universal then picked up 'Repo Men' sometime later left the 'Repo!' filmmakers reeling and reasonably paranoid.

Still, I seriously doubt Garcia plagiarized 'Repo!', as hopefully made clear by the statement: "it certainly wouldn't be the first time two groups of filmmakers have dreamed of the future and awakened with similar visions of a world gone mad." Even the 'Repo!' filmmakers have been unable to pursue legal action. They can suspect Garcia all they want, but at the end of the day, there are no signs of wrongdoing on Garcia's part. He just had a similar idea.

The thrust of my review wasn't about 'Repo Men' culling from 'Repo!' as much as it was about 'Repo Men' culling from dozens of other flicks. When I use the term unoriginal, it's because I can watch 'Repo Men' and say, there's 'Oldboy,' there's 'Blade Runner,' there's 'Minority Report,' and on and on. But that's as much the director as it is Garcia and his co-writer.

Anyway, sorry for the long post. I hope that clarifies things, and helps alleviate any concerns that I made an oversight I did not make. Thanks as always for posting, gents!

I never saw it and had a feeling it'd be bad mainly because is all it did was rip the entire story from Repo! The Genetic Opera and make it an action movie.
I'll Netflix it, but my expectations are extremely low. I have a feeling I'll probably hate it.
Although, I'm sure the PQ and AQ will be fantastic.

I kinda liked those aspects of the film. Like it was playing tribute to those films while still having a good time. I wouldnt say it takes itself to serious at all.
