Default TV audio issue (not home theater)

I have a 47inch Philips LCD that I bought a few months ago and I love it, however, I've noticed a weird audio issue. Occasionally when I'm watching a movie or playing a game and something happens that involves a lot of bass, I hear a crackle or something from the speaker. I really don't think it's just a flat out busted speaker because it's hard to replicate and it's not that nasty buzz sound that a blown one has, just a weird crackle. It happens when say, I'm playing Forza and I run over a rumble strip on the track, or in the occasional song or explosion during a movie.

Could this be something in my audio settings? I looked at the equalizer thing and I seriously might as well be looking at a foreign language..but could this have anything to do with it? I really hope my speakers not blown but I don't know what to adjust to be 100% sure.

first i would check under your television's audio menu to make sure any Bass Boost or BBE is off... then make sure the bass level itself is not set high as your onboard speakers will not handle any real bass frequencies anyways so you're just making it work harder to do the same job
