I, like many, have watched thousands of movies but there are a few that come to me as being intellectuall. You know the ones that really make you think - doesn't matter "how", they just make you think. Remember rational not emotional. Some of my personal favorites include: Solaris; Magnolia (for both rational and emotional intellect); Ghost in the Shell always leaves me agog. How many times have i hit reverse scan on that one? Also love 2001 Sapce Odyssey for the same reasons, Donnie Darko at times. I know everyone loves Blade Runner for this reason though I must say I'm not a big fan. I will watch it again because someone pointed out that Ford's character may be a replica. Interesting. Wall Street may be at the top because it may me think in ways I rarely do and at the same time taught me of a subject I knew little of. I can go on and on but I'd like to hear some opinions...

The Oceans Movies. Sometimes you have to watch them twice to see everything that goes on

The Fountain is a lov it or hate it flick. I saw it in the theater and LOST IT walking to my car. The best part was, I couldnt figure out why I was so emotionally zapped. I watched it on Blu months later and was falling apart by the third act and was a worthless pile of mind jelly at the end. Rent it. You will know right away if it is for you. If it isnt, it was just a rental. If it is for you, good deal. I know I can only watch it once a year though...it affects me too much to view frequently. It hits me like Lynch's Elephant Man. |
