Default Can we let the moderators do their job....

I am tired of people shoving people around on these boards, weather you have 1 post or 5,000 posts you should not tell people what they should or shouldn't be posting or where they should be posting it. At the botom left there is a report function, use it. Or PM the person. I had someone send me a 'Warning' about some material they thought inappropriate, which is not cool when you do it in a threating manner and only have 4 posts to your credit. Sorry, for the rant but I see way to many conversations about this topic and most of it is because people do not know how to effectively communicate something 'Tactfully'. If you have a problem PM the person and talk about it civily. I have no problem if someone calls me on something and they have, because I've posted a thread incorrectly. I'm totally acountable for what I write but come on how many threads do we need about thread crapping, respect, wrong post, read the rules...etc...It just comes down to common sense. If you think its offensive, good chance others will too. END RANT..

This thread annoys me.

lol. But I agree with you though. I'm not one to go off on others in a serious manner, only joking around, honestly.

Like here. I could easily put up a pic of some poop or something I say "I thread crapped here" or make fun of other members by yelling "USE THE SURCH FUNXSHUN"

To be honest, the mods do a great job. I agree that when one of the other members intercedes, that it should be done tactfully, which myself, I have always done. Some people though, just due to the nature of the internet don't care how they come across, and I can certainly understand how this annoys you, it does the same for me. But I just look at it as something we have to deal with, because it's the net. If someone gets out of hand, report 'em, or eventually the mods will notice anyways.

I can't help it,

Well, I've never gone off on a member for incorrectly using the forums - I just answer their question honestly with a little comedic twist, no matter if its a question like "whunz stur wurz comign oot on blue-ray." I figure, when I was on these forums, I didn't like being told off - why do the same to others?

Although it does lead me to wonder how old some of the new posters are around here. As well as some of the members who snap back, too. The fighting and harassing is a bit much sometimes, though. I do take sides, however,

I know this goes against what most of you voted, but I went with "Yes, people who don't know the rules need it pointed out."

I don't think it should be wild west stile, and I would most likely be POed like you if someone with 4 posts sent me a nasty PM about forum rules. But guiding a newb is a good thing and mods most likely have a lot more to do. I also think sometimes "there is a thread on this subject" or "use the search" type comments are meant to be more helpful then bashing. If it is extremely exciting new news, it makes sense that a few people will start a thread, but if (for example) someone starts a discussion on a movie they just saw that came out some time ago then pointing out that there was a 20 page thread on it when it was newer just makes sense because he won't get all the info (or conversation) the original thread had.

So even though I agree that it should not be rude or meant as a threat (“I will tell the mods on you”) but I think we all have a responsibility to play in getting the forum we want. To me that is what it means to be a community.

Well done Anthony and yes your opinion does count, thats why its a poll. Hopefully members read this thread so they can get a 'vibe' for what it is were talking about.

As well you should get a warning for that. And another warning for insulting the moderation.

If someone posts something that's already been discussed, I simply just post the link to the relevant thread to help the mod merge them. A mistake like that is no big deal.

I have had words with obvious trolls here though.

Yep, most of us that have been here a while know how to sniff out an obvious, or not-so-obvious troll.

The best thing is self moderation. Really, if you're about to post something that can in any way come across as offensive to anyone, you must ask yourself "What does this comment have to do with Blu-ray?" and if the answer is "absolutely nothing" then don't waste the forum's time, nor the mods' time. If you then go ahead and still post it, you better be expecting users to complain to you, and be prepared to handle it on your own, instead of creating even more threads highlighting just how hard of a time you have following the rules of the forum.

But that's just my humble opinion, and not directed at anyone personally.
