Smile Poking fun at audiophiles

Being a geek, I read www.userfriendly.org every morning. Today's cartoon is an amusing dig at us audiophiles, so I thought I'd share it here:

'Course us real audiophiles know that Denon don't make decent audio cables, but that doesn't spoil the joke... :-)

Edit: I am clearly forum-challenged, cause I couldn't figure out how to embed a (big) picture here.

That's exactly how I used to be. My wallet has taught me a lesson or two since then.

That's so funny.

Tahnkfully, I was never THAT bad, but I did take the advice of a total dink once and cut ALL my speaker cables to length.

I now have Noooooooooo slack at all and it's a major pain in the ass and I am the fool for listening, because I don't REALLY thiiiiiiiiink and extra foot or two was gonna kill me.

(Still shaking head)

Pffft, Denon, ha, ha.

How about some $7,000 Nordost Red Dawn speaker interconnects?
94% speed of light.

Wonder what your speaker should cost in order to require a pair of these bad boys?

Red Dawn isn't $7K! I think you're thinking of Nordost's Valhalla (Thor is even more obscenely priced).

I'm using a set of Nordost Frey interconnects between my turntable and preamp, and I'm saving for a set to go between my preamp and power amps, and a set of Frey speaker cables. With those in place, I'll be pretty much set as far as cables are concerned. (I'm also using a pair of the Red Dawn's little brothers, the Blue Heaven, between my CD player and preamp. I don't plan to upgrade that...)

gosh, I got a laugh from that one, but man, I feel your pain there.

Basically, I think an essential element of what makes an audiophile is spending more than you should on your Audio equipment. This means there are poor audiophiles too, like me!....but of course, if you're woefully rich you don't need to be in that predicament.

Sadly, they even make the exact one mentioned in the cartoon, an ethernet cable no less:

That is sad.

They even use almost the same wording "...will bring out all the nuances..."

I'm not sure I'm getting out all the nuances in my system. When you get these nuances out what happens then? Is there any way to get them back in if you decide you liked it better with them in there?

Cables, schmables... I upgraded my entire system yesterday for only a few $$$. Awesome, mind-boggling improvement. Even my dog could hear a difference!
