Metal Gear Solid is using the 50GB disk to the MAX.
They had to cut out the Spanish audio on the North American version because it wouldn't fit.

I believe Stranglehold Collector's Edition for PS3 is also on a 50GB disc because it has a 1080p transfer of Hard Boiled on it.

So to be fair then...If people bummed out MGS4 so much, and it doesnt even use the full disk....surely that means only great things to come from the PS3 and its games?!?!

Bull. They cut out the different audio because of time constraints. MGS4 is only 32.5 gigs, there is 17.5 gigs free they didnt use. But then again, they will likely use the space left over for a Substance release + add in the japanese audio as one of the selling points.

I would like to know how many of the games that use the full 50 gig don't use any data duplication. I have seen that some games have the same data on different parts of the disk because the blu drive access speed is not very good.

MGS4 is the only BD50 game.

Read speed doesnt matter since it uses installs to the hard drive per act.

Anything else?

All claims of this nature which you track back to the source track back to that same picture.

Final Fantasy XII, if you view it in a file system, shows that the DVD is barely used, because it's almost entirely contained in things which are not in the file system. That doesn't mean the data isn't there. It just means it's not as simple as doing a 'dir' on it.

It may be absolutely true. On the other hand, we as a consumer have no idea. About the only way you could know for sure is to crack the Blu-Ray, copy just those 33 gig off, get a modded PS3, and play the whole game to see if it still plays.

I'm suprised with MGS4 they didn't copy textures, level layouts ect on the disc for faster load times
