Default Kid has scratched my Plasma Screen

Is it possible to remove scratches out of my plasma?

My 3yr old decided to draw all over it with a very sharp object.. Now I have a lot of nasty scratches all over the glass screen.

Its a panasonic plasma, and its a glass filter screen from what I can make of it..

No doubt what Panasonic would charge will be too expensive to warrant.

I was thinking about polishing it, but I know these screens have an anti-glare coating.

Anyone have any success stories to share, or am i up the creek?

UGH $1000 for a replacement...

Might as well buy a new TV. My kids cracked my Panasonic 55' screen and it was $800.00 to fix.

Look at it this way, you can use it as an excuse when arguing with your wife over why you should get a new Pioneer Kuro Elite.

A really sad predicament for you. To punish your 3 yr old for his action is also hard I mean kids are kids.So maybe a suggestion why not sew a cloth bag
and cover the plasma TV (replaced screen or new purchase).

It's a bit inconvienent but at least no frustrations and heartaches !

3 years old and they do that stuff

Definately some kind of cover on a new set would be a good idea, preferably one that takes a strong snap to remove

Well its $607 for a replacement screen and $924 for a whole new model.

I can use the boards, speakers and stand from my old model.

I'd still like to hear opinions on whether its worth spending the money on a glass polishing kit?

I mean they are $100 so it would be an extra expense if it didn't work..

What I really need to do, is what I do in the bedroom and have it placed where its out of reach. Because he has a younger brother that will probably follow in the same footsteps with its replacement.... ugh...

But that involves new furniture and an additional expense...

Well it boils down to your own decision really. If you take that route of getting the $100.00 glass polishing kit and doing it yourself what will be the
final outcome. Will it work or not ? This is a gamble that you'll have take.

I feel for you My son also scratched the screen on my prior living room TV. I was a Panasonic 1080i 60 inch. I was able to sell it for $600, and upgraded to an XBR 46 inch 1080P Sony Bravia. It worked out, but it was sad moment when it happened.

Hey,

I would try to fix it and if it can't be done easily then replace it.

Toothpaste can buff the scratches out of plastic and it's often used at guitar shops and stuff on used guitars to make them look new.

If you run you fingernail and can feel the scratch then I think it's toast.

Of course it was. Everyone knows you can get a better price for a kid by selling it on Craigslist.

He could only be so lucky. A few years ago I had a 65" HD RCA Projection. It broke, so RCA found me up with a locar repair company. They ended up breaking it even worse so they gave me a brand new TV, still in the box, to replace it.
