madden 09 dislikes - Blu-ray Forum

ok, so I love playing madden 09. But the one thing that really frustrates me is that when you are running the ball, sometimes you get tackled by a man being blocked to begin with. (get me). Like the defender glides of the blocker (while my player decides to stand there) and tackles me. anybody noticed this? sorry if its been posted. i havent played madden in a few years so I'm not sure if it's been like this. any other complaints besides the online quitting.

Well thats going to happen. Especially if the defensive lineman is good. Unless you are playing on rookie, just because someone is blocked doesn't mean they will stay blocked.

yea, I understand that eventually the defender will comes of the block, but when this happens, the guy glides (doesnt move his feet), like he moves in mid air to the opposite side of me and tackles me..lol.. it's annoying

Oh it's totally annoying, I understand that lol. Maybe they just didn't do the animations where the lineman break off blocks, so they have to shift. I've just sort of gotten used to it. I expect when I run through a small hole to be tackled. It just makes you look harder for the bigger hole.

yea, but sometimes this happens when its a HUGE hole and the defender does that to me..lol. overall, the game is fun to play. like i said, i havent played a madden since like 06..

I've noticed it too. Most noticeable on run plays to the side.

My peeve -

When the computer is in hurry up offense, many times the guy I control won't get back to the line in time, resulting in a offsides penalty.

i hate that.. when they do hurry up offense, i dont touch anything but audible.

I hate when I throw a pass about 3 or 4 defenders are on it like white on rice.

I took the Madden test at the beginning...and im pretty terrible. You would think the AI would adjust to my suckness and go easy on me, but sadly no. The AI runs the scores up on me like its a college game.

Whats the point of the Madden test again??

LOL. My rushing offense and defense is maxed out but my passing offense and defense is at zero.

What annoys me the most is after the play is finished, they show you a player's stats and the clock keeps running and you can't get out of it.

yea, the funny thing, as he "glides of the block" he crutching down to a tackle position. lol... he crutches down in mid air..

I think defensive players 'magically' intercepting passes are worse. lol.

i too noticed the blocking thing and i noticed that it especially happens when you decide not to run the designated path the play calls for (i.e. if its an off tackle play, and you break out outside cause there is no DB's there, the defensive end will easy shed his blocker and contain you to a 2 yard gain). i don't mind it happening, but it happens every time, which is a little unrealistic.

other things that aggravate me:

screen passes don't work.
play action against the computer almost always end up in a sack

one weird thing that happened to me as well was the other guy (online) was kicking a long field goal (54 yards) and he missed badly (ended up hitting the endzone and rolling out of bounds). it was 4th down and the next play he had the ball on his own 44 (about 20 yards back). i still beat him in the end, but i heard from someone else that when he punt the ball and it hit the goal post out the back of the end zone he got the ball back as well. might be a glitch there some where.

Since you asked "why start a thread like this"? I'll ask "why don't YOU start the thread what you like about Madden"? If you don't realize this game has some problems, then you've got Madden blinders on.

I got 2 of the best ones ....

Im playing a dude in our clan in a league game ....

4th down , im going for it right ... incomplete pass ....

guess what ... 4th down again LMAO still my ball !!! it gave me 5 downs!

It was hilarious, and this was not with a "rewind" thing they include, this was a league game .. it was glitch obviously ...

2nd one ....

I catch a ball close to out of bounds, dude challenges ... ref says Play stands, but the announcers say something along the lines of ...

"Thats a good call by the official he was clearly out of bounds, overturned!"

and I was out of bounds lol

the AI is horrible too.

However, this is a better Madden then most, I dont regret buying my collectors edition.

I think this Madden is pretty good. I've haven't played the last few weeks as I'm waiting for them to fix the snap to Wide Receiver glitch as I hear many are using this in Ranked games.

My only beef really is play challenges. Every time a close play happens and the oppenent doesn't like the call, he throws teh red flag it out of whatever the ratio is, the Game always overturns it.
