Default close encounters-which one?

so today i popped into my local asda store and noticed they had a bluray section finally i said "this might really become mainstream" anyhow i picked up close encounters. 30th anniversary edition i have only seen this film on television. so can i ask other members of the forum which version shall i view first

I have only watched the Director's Cut so far. I recommend you look at the fold-out dealie that comes with this disc that details all the differences between the three versions, and make a decision based on that.

Then, watch the other two versions.

first watch the original director's cut then watch the special edition. Encounters is a masterpiece of and epic level much like 2001, Blade Runner, Alien/Aliens,T2

Could somebody confirm as I've not had time to look too deep into that matter, does this only come in one edition, that being the edition with a few BD's included?

Just, I would like the best edition I can get.

Yeah, it's just one edition and includes all 3 versions on the same disc (uses seamless branching and also comes with a chart showing the differences, etc.). Edit: Special Features are on disc 2.

Edit: Oh, I'd start with the Director's Cut but if you want to watch it in order, watch the theatrical first, then the special edition, and finally the Director's Cut.
