"Alternate German and Spanish audio is included as well, but the Japanese 5.1 track promised on the back cover is nowhere to be found. Not sure if that was left off of all editions of the film or just the Blu-ray release, but nevertheless it’s completely absent. A real bummer, I actually was genuinely curious what it sounded like. " After not including lossless audio, this is just adding insult to injury... I imagine a lot of Batman fans won't mind since the English dub features the same guy who did Batman in the old animated series, but I prefer my anime in the original Japanese so I definitely won't be getting the US release (though I wasn't planning on getting it anyways because there's no lossless audio). Already have the Japanese release on pre-order, but I'll be selling it if it doesn't have lossless either. |

Yeah, but why would they have had us thinking it would be included all this time then? If they didn't care about anime fans they never would have included the Japanese track or listed it on the back cover in the first place.

Whatever. It was still recorded in Japanese first and dubbed in English second, and will still sound as awkward in English as any other dub.

They have subs listed on there, but they're not on there? Bummer, my wife would've liked to have the Japanese subs...

I am 100% against dubbing in any form, and I'm very doubtful that this was recorded in Japanese first. It was written in English by Americans for an american company. Just like Transformers, GI Joe, or even the original Batman TAS. The only difference is that the Japanese directors were allowed to direct and board the features. The same thing happened with Animatrix, except that they were also allowed to write them. Vampire Hunter D:Bloodlust was produced in English, as was the Highlander Search for Vengence. |

This interview here:
http://www.worldsfinestonline.com/WF...iew/conroy.php "In the past, we’ve always treated the shows like a radio play – we recorded the lines and then the animation took place. This time, the artwork came first, and that made the process interesting. Sometimes the artists put extra mouth flaps in, or they made the cadence different from the way I’d usually deliver a line. So we had to work within those parameters and try to time the acting to fill the space." The animation was done first and the lip flaps were done with the Japanese dialogue in mind. Quote:

The flaps were still designed for English Quote:
I saw Gotham Knight today. It's....OK. What bothered me more than anything was that Conroy voices Bruce young, so he doesn't sound like he does in TAS. Awkward English dubbing is 9 times out of 10 the result of using poor, bargain basement actors who are not trained for voice work, bad scripting (on either side of the ocean), bad direction, and/or a rushjob. This is not dubbed, you're supposed to watch it in English. This movie is designed for English just as much as any Japanese movie is designed for Japanese. |

I know Seiyuu do make appearences in Akihabara from time to time, I suggest you ask them if it's ever happened to them. It sure has happened to the half dozen or so I've met Tell you what, I'll ask the Madhouse guys when I see them next month, since they did one of the sequences, they'll be able to provide a definitive answer Last edited by WickyWoo; 07-01-2008 at 03:41 AM. |

Whatever the reason, it's still going to sound like a dub since the English voice recording was done in a booth after the animation was done, and the actors still had to work around the animation instead of the animation working around them.
I'll stick to the Japanese track once the Blu-ray comes out over here. |
