Default Help with ACER 7220 and Blu-ray

I new at this so please forgive me if I have trouble.

I have recently purchased a Acer Aspire 7720-6794. I'm having trouble with the first a blu ray disc, It's the happening and it's new.

The sample blu-ray disc that Acer sent plays fine. It reads the happening and I can explore the files but I when I try to play it just goes to a blank screen.

I'm getting a cable that goes from the DVI out to my HDMI input to us on my 1080p tv. I really hope I can get this to work.

Any info would be much appreciated.

-Try another blu-ray.
-firmware upgrade?

Connecting to your TV with a DVI2HDMI cable should not be a problem as long as your video card supports that. You may have to force detection. I can't remember the details but from what I remember connecting a computer to a TV with DVI can be a little tricky, you have to play around with resolution and refresh rate settings.

Stop putting yourself down

Its most likely the BD and not your computer. Refer to this thread.

what resolution are you playing the movie at? I believe 1080p will only work with HDMI/DVI connection so when you get your cable, hopefully it will be ok.

what about other bluray movies? do they work too?

When I use the tv as a monitor there is a way to switch to only the external monitor which is 1080p
