Default Interesting analysis

http://forum.hd-dvd.com/showthread.php?p=530#post530

I have a post over at HD-DVD.COM where i questioned why there was only 18 members as of spetember 26th there and 1,397 members here.

well i was bored and looked at the number of members to both sites and found that now on october 17th there are 1,847 members here and now a grand total of 33 members over at HD-DVD.com

If this is any type of indication of peoples interest in the new formats, it's pretty lobsided IMO, just based off of new signups.

I've also noticed that while HDDVD seems the prefered format over at avsforums.com, the "Blu-Ray" areas seem much more active lately (despite the lobsided post/thread counts), and I see alot more of the HDDVD zealots posting in the BR sections than I see the Blu Boyz in the "HDDVD" areas.

Last but not least, the news comming out of the Blu Ray camp seems to be every day and of much more signifigance. Just check Highdefdigest on a daily basis. They seem to occassionally have to make up articles because there is a lack of news being fed to them around HDDVD.

This is Great News for ____________________!

There are several simple explanations for that, the Blu-ray.com forum has been online for a long time, while the HD-DVD forum has been online for less than 2 months
Also, HD-DVD.com has no real site at the moment and the HD-DVD guys are probably using other forums (AVS?) =)

But I agree on the news comment, I've also noticed that there are less HD-DVD news than there are Blu-ray news, and it has been that way for several years. My guess is that there are more CE companies involved in Blu-ray and thereby creating more news when they are releasing information about their Blu-ray related products.

So... what you are saying...

HD-DVD has seen almost a 100% increase in forum membership while
Blu-ray has seen less than a 50% increase?

Geez, HD-DVD wins again.

Hd-DVD.com is a nice forum that deserves to grow, because at least you could have a real disucssion with all the fights and BS. Same level of great quality we have here.

The other obvious reason I would suspect that place hasn't grown is quite simple: HD-DVD supporters already have their own havens in the forms of AVS and HTF.

What do they need another forum for?

I think that there are 1000-1500 HD DVD same and same fanboys who post all over the news sites coments and topics, and in forums we know as most popular. They fill every forum and news comments with crap and thus making people think that HD DVD is better. They manage to fools some of new users and their number grows untill they (the fooled users) find https://forum.blu-ray.com, but most people do not visit those forums and do not read the comments, they read paper NEWS and MAGAZINES so i think that those 82 000+ posts at AVSForum are mostly WASTED TIME! for those fanboys.

And i am happy.

Conclusion: The more posts HD DVD fanboys manage to scatter, the more they will regret at the end when they loose.

HD-DVD.com just needs some orginal content. Right now it needs to become a repository for great information. That'll make it a lot more "sticky" than just forums.

When they go live with information on the front page I'd be glad to submit some articles to increase traction. I certainly couldn't do worse than some of these idiots writing for major eRags.

Hmurchison, anytime i go to that site (hddvd.com) your usually the only one over there

I would definately vote for you over there in that type of regard, you seem to have really jumped on over there and embraced it.

Agreed, a detailed homepage such as we have at Blu-ray.com is in the works.

Let's not forget the influence of Google.

When entering Blu-ray Disc at Google.com, I get blu-ray.com on the top of the page.
When entering HD DVD at Google.com, I don't see hd-dvd.com on the first two pages.

That explains a lot. But I'm sure the ranking of hd-dvd.com will rise with the new website and the maturitity of the site will in the end get a lot of links, which translates itself in a higher ranking.
