Default Raising a TV up

I find I have to look down a little when I watch my screen while standing. While I generally sit to watch movies and shows, I stand for active video games like DDR and Rock Band.

I have a 52" DLP-type HDTV; so it's wider than LCD or plasma, but much thinner than CRT. It's on a stand already, but I'd like to know a pratical way to raise it a little higher.

does your dlp base go the whole 52" b/c my dlp sits on small pedestal like stand that does not run the whole lenght of the base.

you could by 1" boards from home depot or lowes and stack those to raise the tv.

I got a stand that's only 18" high from IKEA ($80) formy 56", which I then combined with another 7" or so of 1" board. I cut the boards into squares, glued them together using liquid nail, and then sanded and painted (well, not yet, I was impatient. I'm re-arranging the HT room so I'll do it when I take them down to move it) them to match. TV is now the perfect height, and the final stand cost me under $100

I don't mean to take over his thread, but he mentioned he has to look down sometimes at his TV, i also do that sometimes.
when watching an HDTV is it best to view it from a height?(looking up) or even leveled? or doesn't really matter?

I've got mine on a temporary stand(old 70's stereo console ) until I finish building my new stand. It was a little low for my taste so I used some scrap plywood and built a stand to raise it up about 6". It basically went together like this(looking from the front):

I made it tall enough for my center channel to fit in the void in the center. Put a few pieces of trim around the sides and sprayed it black.
